¹³ Then one who had escaped came and told Abram the ^(A)Hebrew, for ^(B)he dwelt by ^[a]the terebinth trees of Mamre the Amorite, brother of Eshcol and brother of Aner; ^(C)and they were allies with Abram.

²⁴ The place was called the Valley of ^[a]Eshcol, because of the cluster which the men of Israel cut down there.

⁹ For ^(A)when they went up to the Valley of Eshcol and saw the land, they discouraged the heart of the children of Israel, so that they did not go into the land which the Lord had given them.

^24 (A)And they departed and went up into the mountains, and came to the Valley of Eshcol, and spied it out.

²⁵ They also took some of the fruit of the land in their hands and brought it down to us; and they brought back word to us, saying, ‘It is a ^(A)good land which the Lord our God is giving us.’
