⁴ God saw that the light was good,^(A) and he separated the light from the darkness.^{(B) 5} God called^(C) the light “day,” and the darkness he called “night.”^(D) And there was evening, and there was morning^(E)—the first day.

⁶ And God said,^(F) “Let there be a vault^(G) between the waters^(H) to separate water from water.”
