And he lift up his eyes and looked, and, lo, three men stood by him: and when he saw them, he ran to meet them from the tent door, and bowed himself toward the ground,

And said, My Lord, if now I have found favour in thy sight, pass not away, I pray thee, from thy servant:

Let a little water, I pray you, be fetched, and wash your feet, and rest yourselves under the tree:

And I will fetch a morsel of bread, and comfort ye your hearts; after that ye shall pass on: for therefore are ye come to your servant. And they said, So do, as thou hast said.

And Abraham hastened into the tent unto Sarah, and said, Make ready quickly three measures of fine meal, knead it, and make cakes upon the hearth.

And Abraham ran unto the herd, and fetcht a calf tender and good, and gave it unto a young man; and he hasted to dress it.

And he took butter, and milk, and the calf which he had dressed, and set it before them; and he stood by them under the tree, and they did eat.

And they said unto him, Where is Sarah thy wife? And he said, Behold, in the tent.

10 And he said, I will certainly return unto thee according to the time of life; and, lo, Sarah thy wife shall have a son. And Sarah heard it in the tent door, which was behind him.

11 Now Abraham and Sarah were old and well stricken in age; and it ceased to be with Sarah after the manner of women.

12 Therefore Sarah laughed within herself, saying, After I am waxed old shall I have pleasure, my lord being old also?

13 And the Lord said unto Abraham, Wherefore did Sarah laugh, saying, Shall I of a surety bear a child, which am old?

14 Is any thing too hard for the Lord? At the time appointed I will return unto thee, according to the time of life, and Sarah shall have a son.

15 Then Sarah denied, saying, I laughed not; for she was afraid. And he said, Nay; but thou didst laugh.

He lifted up his eyes and looked, and behold, three men were standing in front of him. (A)When he saw them, he ran from the tent door to meet them and bowed himself to the earth and said, “O Lord,[a] if I have found favor in your sight, do not pass by your servant. Let a (B)little water be brought, and wash your feet, and rest yourselves under the tree, while I bring a morsel of bread, that (C)you may refresh yourselves, and after that you may pass on—(D)since you have come to your servant.” So they said, “Do as you have said.” And Abraham went quickly into the tent to Sarah and said, “Quick! Three seahs[b] of fine flour! Knead it, and make cakes.” And Abraham ran to the herd and took a calf, tender and good, and gave it to a young man, who prepared it quickly. Then he took curds and milk and the calf that he had prepared, and set it before them. And he stood by them under the tree while they ate.

They said to him, “Where is Sarah your wife?” And he said, “She is (E)in the tent.” 10 The Lord said, “I will surely return to you (F)about this time next year, and (G)Sarah your wife shall have a son.” And Sarah was listening at the tent door behind him. 11 Now (H)Abraham and Sarah were old, advanced in years. The way of women had ceased to be with Sarah. 12 (I)So Sarah laughed to herself, saying, (J)“After I am worn out, and (K)my lord is old, shall I have pleasure?” 13 The Lord said to Abraham, “Why did Sarah laugh and say, ‘Shall I indeed bear a child, now that I am old?’ 14 (L)Is anything too hard[c] for the Lord? (M)At the appointed time I will return to you, about this time next year, and Sarah shall have a son.” 15 But Sarah denied it,[d] saying, “I did not laugh,” for she was afraid. He said, “No, but you did laugh.”
