Genesis 17:5

New International Version

⁵No longer will you be called Abram^[a]; your name will be Abraham,^[b]^(A) for I have made you a father of many nations.^(B)

⁵Neither shall thy name any more be called Abram, but thy name shall be Abraham; for a father of many nations have I made thee.

⁵I am changing your name from Abram^[a] to Abraham.^[b] This is because I am making you a father of many nations.

17:5 Abram This name means “honored father.”
