13 Da sagde Herren til Abram: „Dine efterkommere vil komme til at bo i et fremmed land i 400 år og opleve slaveri og undertrykkelse, 14 men jeg vil straffe det folk, som undertrykker dem, og til sidst skal dit folk rejse bort derfra med megen rigdom. 15 (Dette skal dog ikke ske i din tid. Du skal nå en høj alder og dø i fred.) 16 Fire generationer[a] senere skal de vende tilbage til dette land. På det tidspunkt er amoritternes synd blevet så voldsom, at jeg må straffe dem.”

14 And also that nation, whom they shall serve, will I judge: and afterward shall they come out with great substance.

15 And thou shalt go to thy fathers in peace; thou shalt be buried in a good old age.

16 But in the fourth generation they shall come hither again: for the iniquity of the Amorites is not yet full.
