²⁰ Give no thought to your possessions, for the best of all the land of Egypt is yours.’ ”

³¹ On that day, anyone on the housetop who has belongings in the house must not come down to take them away, and likewise anyone in the field must not turn back.

¹⁷ Nevertheless, my eye spared them, and I did not destroy them or make an end of them in the wilderness.

³ for they are a rebellious house. Therefore, mortal, prepare for yourself an exile’s baggage, and go into exile by day in their sight; you shall go like an exile from your place to another place in their sight. Perhaps they will understand, though they are a rebellious house.^{(A) 4} You shall bring out your baggage by day in their sight, as baggage for exile, and you shall go out yourself at evening in their sight, as those do who go into exile.^(B)

⁵ To the others he said in my hearing, “Pass through the city after him and kill; your eye shall not spare, and you shall show no pity.^(A)

Then you shall know that it is I the Lord who strike.

Then you shall know that I am the Lord.^(A)

¹² Therefore, do not give your daughters to their sons, neither take their daughters for your sons, and never seek their peace or prosperity, so that you may be strong and eat the good of the land and leave it for an inheritance to your children forever.’^(A)
