¹⁷ But he said, ^(A)“Far be it from me that I should do so; the man in whose hand the cup was found, he shall be my slave. And as for you, go up in peace to your father.”

¹⁸ Then Joseph said to them the third day, “Do this and live, ^(A)for I fear God:

³² Then they sent the tunic of many colors, and they brought it to their father and said, “We have found this. Do you know whether it is your son’s tunic or not?”

³³ And he recognized it and said, “It is my son’s tunic. A ^(A)wild beast has devoured him. Without doubt Joseph is torn to pieces.”

²⁹ that you will do us no harm, since we have not touched you, and since we have done nothing to you but good and have sent you away in peace. ^(A)You are now the blessed of the Lord.’ ”

²⁵ Far be it from You to do such a thing as this, to slay the righteous with the wicked, so ^(A)that the righteous should be as the wicked; far be it from You! ^(B)Shall not the Judge of all the earth do right?”
