⁶ When Joseph came to them in the morning, he saw that they were troubled.

²⁷ So I, Daniel, was overcome and lay sick for some days; then I arose and went about the king’s business. But I was dismayed by the vision and did not understand it.^(A)

²⁸ Here the account ends. As for me, Daniel, my thoughts greatly terrified me, and my face turned pale, but I kept the matter in my mind.^(A)

⁶ Then the king’s face turned pale, and his thoughts terrified him. His limbs gave way, and his knees knocked together.^(A)

⁵ I saw a dream that frightened me; my fantasies in bed and the visions of my head terrified me.^(A)

Nebuchadnezzar’s Dream

2 In the second year of Nebuchadnezzar’s reign, Nebuchadnezzar dreamed such dreams that his spirit was troubled and his sleep left him.^{(A) 2} So the king commanded that the magicians, the enchanters, the sorcerers, and the Chaldeans be summoned to tell the king his dreams. When they came in and stood before the king,^{(B) 3} he said to them, “I have had such a dream that my spirit is troubled by the desire to understand it.”^(C)

⁸ In the morning his spirit was troubled, so he sent and called for all the magicians of Egypt and all its wise men. Pharaoh told them his dreams, but there was no one who could interpret them to Pharaoh.^(A)

⁸ They said to him, “We have had dreams, and there is no one to interpret them.” And Joseph said to them, “Do not interpretations belong to God? Please tell them to me.”^(A)
