² When Shechem^(A) son of Hamor^(B) the Hivite,^(C) the ruler of that area, saw her, he took her and raped her.^(D)

²⁸ But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart.^(A)

Samson’s Marriage

14 Samson^(A) went down to Timnah^(B) and saw there a young Philistine woman.

¹⁰ In you are those who dishonor their father’s bed;^(A) in you are those who violate women during their period,^(B) when they are ceremonially unclean.^{(C) 11} In you one man commits a detestable offense with his neighbor’s wife,^(D) another shamefully defiles his daughter-in-law,^(E) and another violates his sister,^(F) his own father’s daughter.^(G)

² One evening David got up from his bed and walked around on the roof^(A) of the palace. From the roof he saw^(B) a woman bathing. The woman was very beautiful,

²⁴ Look, here is my virgin daughter,^(A) and his concubine. I will bring them out to you now, and you can use them and do to them whatever you wish. But as for this man, don’t do such an outrageous thing.”

²⁵ But the men would not listen to him. So the man took his concubine and sent her outside to them, and they raped her^(B) and abused her^(C) throughout the night, and at dawn they let her go.
