¹⁴ And Abraham named that place ^[a]The Lord Will Provide, as it is said to this day, “On the mountain of the Lord ^(A)it will ^[b]be provided.”

²⁴ “^(A)No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and ^[a](B)wealth.

The Cure for Anxiety

²⁵ “^(C)For this reason I say to you, ^[b]do not be ^(D)worried about your ^[c]life, as to what you will eat or what you will drink; nor for your body, as to what you will put on. Is life not more than food, and the body more than clothing? ^26 (E)Look at the birds of the sky, that they do not sow, nor reap, nor gather crops into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more important than they? ²⁷ And which of you by ^(F)worrying can ^(G)add a single ^[d]day to his ^[e]life’s span? ²⁸ And why are you ^(H)worried about clothing? Notice how the lilies of the field grow; they do not labor nor do they spin thread for cloth, ²⁹ yet I say to you that not even ^(I)Solomon in all his glory clothed himself like one of these. ³⁰ But if God so clothes the ^(J)grass of the field, which is alive today and tomorrow is thrown into the furnace, will He not much more clothe you? ^(K)You of little faith! ³¹ Do not ^(L)worry then, saying, ‘What are we to eat?’ or ‘What are we to drink?’ or ‘What are we to wear for clothing?’ ³² For the Gentiles eagerly seek all these things; for ^(M)your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. ³³ But ^[f]seek first ^[g]His kingdom and His righteousness, and ^(N)all these things will be ^[h]provided to you.

³⁴ “So do not ^(O)worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will ^[i]worry about itself. ^[j]Each day has enough trouble of its own.

⁵ Make sure that your character is ^(A)free from the love of money, ^(B)being content with what you have; for He Himself has said, “^(C)I will never desert you, nor will I ever abandon you,”

¹⁹ And ^(A)my God will supply ^[a]all your needs according to His ^(B)riches in glory in Christ Jesus.

⁷ Nathan then said to David, “^(A)You yourself are the man! This is what the Lord, the God of Israel says: ‘^(B)It is I who anointed you as king over Israel, and it is I who rescued you from the hand of Saul. ⁸ I also gave you ^(C)your master’s house and put your master’s wives ^[a]into your care, and I gave you the house of Israel and Judah; and if that had been too little, I would have added to you ^[b]many more things like these!

¹⁷ Instruct those who are rich in ^(A)this present world ^(B)not to be conceited or to ^(C)set their hope on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, ^(D)who richly supplies us with all things to enjoy. ¹⁸ Instruct them to do good, to be rich in ^(E)good ^[a]works, ^(F)to be generous and ready to share, ^19 (G)storing up for themselves the treasure of a good foundation for the future, so that they may ^(H)take hold of that which is truly life.
