²⁵ When Abraham reproved Abimelech about a well of water that Abimelech's servants ^(A)had seized,

¹⁵ (Now the Philistines had stopped and filled with earth all the wells ^(A)that his father's servants had dug in the days of Abraham his father.) ¹⁶ And Abimelech said to Isaac, “Go away from us, for you are much mightier than we.”

¹⁷ So Isaac departed from there and encamped in the Valley of Gerar and settled there. ¹⁸ And Isaac dug again the wells of water that had been dug in the days of Abraham his father, which the Philistines had stopped after the death of Abraham. And ^(B)he gave them the names that his father had given them. ¹⁹ But when Isaac's servants dug in the valley and found there a well of spring water, ²⁰ the herdsmen of Gerar ^(C)quarreled with Isaac's herdsmen, saying, “The water is ours.” So he called the name of the well Esek,^[a] because they contended with him. ²¹ Then they dug another well, and they quarreled over that also, so he called its name Sitnah.^{[b] 22} And he moved from there and dug another well, and they did not quarrel over it. So he called its name Rehoboth,^[c] saying, “For now the Lord has made room for us, and we shall be fruitful in the land.”

If Your Brother Sins Against You

^15 (A)“If your brother sins against you, ^(B)go and tell him his fault, between you and him alone. If he listens to you, you have ^(C)gained your brother.

¹⁵ She said to him, “Give me a blessing. Since you have set me in the land of the Negeb, give me also springs of water.” And Caleb gave her the upper springs and the lower springs.

¹⁵ When Pharaoh heard of it, he sought to kill Moses. But ^(A)Moses fled from Pharaoh and stayed in the land of Midian. And he sat down by ^(B)a well.

¹⁶ Now the ^(C)priest of Midian had seven daughters, and ^(D)they came and drew water and filled the troughs to water their father's flock. ¹⁷ The shepherds came and drove them away, but Moses stood up and saved them, and ^(E)watered their flock.

⁸ But they said, “We cannot until all the flocks are gathered together and the stone is rolled from the mouth of the well; then we water the sheep.”

^7 (A)and there was strife between the herdsmen of Abram's livestock and the herdsmen of Lot's livestock. At that time ^(B)the Canaanites and the Perizzites were dwelling in the land.
