Descendientes de Abraham y Cetura
25 (A)Abraham volvió a tomar mujer, y su nombre era Cetura. 2 Ella le dio hijos: Zimram, Jocsán, Medán, Madián, Isbac y Súa. 3 Jocsán fue el padre de Seba y de Dedán. Los hijos de Dedán fueron Asurim, Letusim y Leumim. 4 Los hijos de Madián fueron Efa, Efer, Hanoc, Abida y Elda. Todos estos fueron los hijos de Cetura. 5 Abraham dio a Isaac todo lo que poseía(B). 6 A los hijos de sus concubinas[a] Abraham les dio regalos, viviendo aún él, y los envió lejos(C) de su hijo Isaac hacia el este, a la tierra del oriente.
Muerte y sepultura de Abraham
7 Estos fueron los años[b] de la vida de Abraham: 175 años(D). 8 Abraham murió en buena vejez(E), anciano y lleno de días, y fue reunido a su pueblo[c](F). 9 Sus hijos Isaac e Ismael lo sepultaron en la cueva de Macpela, en el campo de Efrón, hijo de Zohar, el hitita, que está frente a Mamre(G), 10 el campo que Abraham compró a los hijos de Het(H). Allí fue sepultado Abraham con Sara su mujer. 11 Después de la muerte de Abraham, Dios bendijo a su hijo Isaac(I). Y habitó Isaac junto a Beer Lajai Roi[d](J).
Descendientes de Ismael
12 (K)Estas son las generaciones de Ismael, hijo de Abraham, el que Agar la egipcia, sierva de Sara, le dio a Abraham(L). 13 Estos son los nombres de los hijos de Ismael(M), nombrados por el orden de su nacimiento: el primogénito de Ismael, Nebaiot, después, Cedar, Adbeel, Mibsam, 14 Misma, Duma, Massa, 15 Hadar, Tema, Jetur, Nafis y Cedema. 16 Estos fueron los hijos de Ismael, y estos sus nombres, por sus aldeas y por sus campamentos: doce príncipes(N) según sus tribus[e].
17 Estos fueron los años de la vida de Ismael: 137 años(O). Murió, y fue reunido a su pueblo[f](P). 18 Sus descendientes habitaron desde Havila(Q) hasta Shur(R), que está enfrente de Egipto, según se va hacia Asiria. Se establecieron[g] allí frente a[h] todos sus parientes[i](S).
Nacimiento de Esaú y de Jacob
19 Estas son las generaciones de Isaac, hijo de Abraham: Abraham fue el padre de Isaac(T). 20 Tenía Isaac 40 años cuando tomó por mujer a Rebeca(U), hija de Betuel(V), el arameo de Padán Aram, hermana de Labán(W) el arameo. 21 Isaac oró al Señor en favor de su mujer, porque ella era estéril; y el Señor(X) lo escuchó, y Rebeca su mujer concibió(Y).
22 Los hijos luchaban dentro de ella y ella dijo: «Si esto es así, ¿para qué vivo yo?». Y fue a consultar al Señor(Z). 23 Y el Señor le dijo:
«Dos naciones hay en tu seno(AA),
Y dos pueblos se dividirán desde tus entrañas;
Un pueblo será más fuerte que el otro(AB),
Y el mayor servirá al menor(AC)».
24 Cuando se cumplieron los días de dar a luz, había mellizos en su seno. 25 El primero salió rojizo[j], todo cubierto de vello, y lo llamaron Esaú[k](AD). 26 Y después salió su hermano, con su mano asida al talón de Esaú(AE), y lo llamaron Jacob[l](AF). Isaac tenía 60 años(AG) cuando Rebeca dio a luz a los mellizos.
Esaú vende su primogenitura
27 Los niños crecieron, y Esaú llegó a ser diestro cazador, hombre del campo. Pero Jacob era hombre pacífico[m], que habitaba en tiendas(AH). 28 Isaac amaba a Esaú porque le gustaba lo que cazaba[n](AI), pero Rebeca amaba a Jacob(AJ).
29 Un día, cuando Jacob había preparado un potaje(AK), Esaú vino agotado del campo. 30 Entonces Esaú dijo a Jacob: «Te ruego que me des a comer un poco de ese guisado rojo[o], pues estoy agotado». Por eso lo llamaron Edom[p]. 31 «Véndeme primero[q] tu primogenitura(AL)», le contestó Jacob. 32 «Mira, yo estoy a punto de morir», le dijo Esaú; «¿de qué me sirve, pues, la primogenitura?». 33 «Júramelo primero[r]», replicó Jacob. Esaú se lo juró, y vendió su primogenitura a Jacob(AM).
34 Entonces Jacob dio a Esaú pan y guisado de lentejas. Él comió y bebió, se levantó y se fue. Así despreció Esaú la primogenitura.

Abraham and Keturah(A)
25 Abraham again took a wife, and her name was (B)Keturah. 2 And (C)she bore him Zimran, Jokshan, Medan, Midian, Ishbak, and Shuah. 3 Jokshan begot Sheba and Dedan. And the sons of Dedan were Asshurim, Letushim, and Leummim. 4 And the sons of Midian were Ephah, Epher, Hanoch, Abidah, and Eldaah. All these were the children of Keturah.
5 And (D)Abraham gave all that he had to Isaac. 6 But Abraham gave gifts to the sons of the concubines which Abraham had; and while he was still living he (E)sent them eastward, away from Isaac his son, to (F)the country of the east.
Abraham’s Death and Burial
7 This is the sum of the years of Abraham’s life which he lived: one hundred and seventy-five years. 8 Then Abraham breathed his last and (G)died in a good old age, an old man and full of years, and (H)was gathered to his people. 9 And (I)his sons Isaac and Ishmael buried him in the cave of (J)Machpelah, which is before Mamre, in the field of Ephron the son of Zohar the Hittite, 10 (K)the field which Abraham purchased from the sons of Heth. (L)There Abraham was buried, and Sarah his wife. 11 And it came to pass, after the death of Abraham, that God blessed his son Isaac. And Isaac dwelt at (M)Beer Lahai Roi.
The Families of Ishmael and Isaac(N)
12 Now this is the (O)genealogy of Ishmael, Abraham’s son, whom Hagar the Egyptian, Sarah’s maidservant, bore to Abraham. 13 And (P)these were the names of the sons of Ishmael, by their names, according to their generations: The firstborn of Ishmael, Nebajoth; then Kedar, Adbeel, Mibsam, 14 Mishma, Dumah, Massa, 15 [a]Hadar, Tema, Jetur, Naphish, and Kedemah. 16 These were the sons of Ishmael and these were their names, by their towns and their [b]settlements, (Q)twelve princes according to their nations. 17 These were the years of the life of Ishmael: one hundred and thirty-seven years; and (R)he breathed his last and died, and was gathered to his people. 18 (S)(They dwelt from Havilah as far as Shur, which is east of Egypt as you go toward Assyria.) He [c]died (T)in the presence of all his brethren.
19 This is the (U)genealogy of Isaac, Abraham’s son. (V)Abraham begot Isaac. 20 Isaac was forty years old when he took Rebekah as wife, (W)the daughter of Bethuel the Syrian of Padan Aram, (X)the sister of Laban the Syrian. 21 Now Isaac pleaded with the Lord for his wife, because she was barren; (Y)and the Lord granted his plea, (Z)and Rebekah his wife conceived. 22 But the children struggled together within her; and she said, “If all is well, why am I like this?” (AA)So she went to inquire of the Lord.
23 And the Lord said to her:
(AB)“Two nations are in your womb,
Two peoples shall be separated from your body;
One people shall be stronger than (AC)the other,
(AD)And the older shall serve the younger.”
24 So when her days were fulfilled for her to give birth, indeed there were twins in her womb. 25 And the first came out red. He was (AE)like a hairy garment all over; so they called his name [d]Esau. 26 Afterward his brother came out, and (AF)his hand took hold of Esau’s heel; so (AG)his name was called [e]Jacob. Isaac was sixty years old when she bore them.
27 So the boys grew. And Esau was (AH)a skillful hunter, a man of the field; but Jacob was (AI)a [f]mild man, (AJ)dwelling in tents. 28 And Isaac loved Esau because he (AK)ate of his game, (AL)but Rebekah loved Jacob.
Esau Sells His Birthright(AM)
29 Now Jacob cooked a stew; and Esau came in from the field, and he was weary. 30 And Esau said to Jacob, “Please feed me with that same red stew, for I am weary.” Therefore his name was called [g]Edom.
31 But Jacob said, “Sell me your birthright as of this day.”
32 And Esau said, “Look, I am about to die; so (AN)what is this birthright to me?”
33 Then Jacob said, [h]“Swear to me as of this day.”
So he swore to him, and (AO)sold his birthright to Jacob. 34 And Jacob gave Esau bread and stew of lentils; then (AP)he ate and drank, arose, and went his way. Thus Esau (AQ)despised his birthright.
