¹² So now do not ^(A)give your daughters to their sons nor take their daughters for your sons, and ^(B)never seek their peace or their prosperity, so that you may be strong and may eat the good things of the land, and ^(C)leave it as an inheritance to your sons forever.’

³⁹ and I will ^(A)give them one heart and one way, so that they will fear Me always, for their own ^(B)good and for the good of their children after them.

^21 (A)At that very ^[a]time He rejoiced greatly in the Holy Spirit, and said, “I ^[b]praise You, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that You have hidden these things from the wise and intelligent and have revealed them to infants. Yes, Father, for doing so was well pleasing in Your sight.

⁷ It is for discipline that you endure; ^(A)God deals with you as with sons; for what son is there whom his father does not discipline? ⁸ But if you are without discipline, ^(B)of which all have become partakers, then you are illegitimate children and not sons. ⁹ Furthermore, we had ^[a]earthly fathers to discipline us, and we ^(C)respected them; shall we not much more be subject to ^(D)the Father of ^[b]spirits, and ^(E)live?
