Ezra Sends for Levites

¹⁵ I gathered them to the river that runs to ^(A)Ahava, and there we camped three days. As I reviewed the people and the priests, I found there ^(B)none of the sons of Levi.

³¹ Then we departed from the river Ahava ^(A)on the twelfth day of the first month, to go to Jerusalem. ^(B)The hand of our God was on us, and he delivered us from the hand of the enemy and from ambushes by the way.

Fasting and Prayer for Protection

^21 (A)Then I proclaimed a fast there, at the river ^(B)Ahava, that we might humble ourselves before our God, ^(C)to seek from him a safe journey for ourselves, our children, and all our goods.

⁷ And there went up also to Jerusalem, in the seventh year of Artaxerxes the king, some of the people of Israel, and ^(A)some of the priests and ^(B)Levites, the singers and gatekeepers, and the temple ^(C)servants.

^15 (A)And I came to the exiles at Tel-abib, who were dwelling ^(B)by the Chebar canal, and I sat where they were dwelling.^[a] And ^(C)I sat there ^(D)overwhelmed among them ^(E)seven days.

How Shall We Sing the Lord's Song?

¹³ And ^(A)on the Sabbath day we went outside the gate ^(B)to the riverside, where we supposed there was a place of prayer, and we ^(C)sat down and spoke to the women who had come together.
