Genealogy of Those Who Returned with Ezra

8 These are the heads of their fathers' houses, and this is the genealogy of those who went up with me from Babylonia, in the reign of Artaxerxes the king:

⁷ And there went up also to Jerusalem, in the seventh year of Artaxerxes the king, some of the people of Israel, and ^(A)some of the priests and ^(B)Levites, the singers and gatekeepers, and the temple ^(C)servants.

⁷⁰ Now some of the heads of fathers' houses gave to the work. The ^(A)governor gave to the treasury 1,000 darics^[a] of gold, 50 basins, 30 priests' garments and 500 minas^[b] of silver.^{[c] 71} And some of the heads of fathers' houses gave into the treasury of the work 20,000 darics of gold and 2,200 minas of silver.

^13 (A)I make a decree that anyone of the people of Israel or their priests or Levites in my kingdom, who freely offers to go to Jerusalem, may go with you.

⁶² These sought their registration among those enrolled in the genealogies, but they were not found there, and ^(A)so they were excluded from the priesthood as unclean.

⁵ Then rose up the heads of the fathers' houses of Judah and Benjamin, and the priests and the Levites, ^(A)everyone whose spirit ^(B)God had stirred to go up to rebuild the house of the Lord that is in Jerusalem.

¹² The whole number of the heads of fathers' houses of mighty men of valor was 2,600.

³² King David appointed him and his brothers, 2,700 men of ability, heads of fathers' houses, to have the oversight of the Reubenites, the Gadites and the half-tribe of the Manassites for everything pertaining to God and for ^(A)the affairs of the king.

³¹ These also, the head of each father's house and his younger brother alike, ^(A)cast lots, just as their brothers the sons of Aaron, in the presence of King David, ^(B)Zadok, Ahimelech, and the heads of fathers' houses of the priests and of the Levites.

³⁴ These were heads of fathers' houses of the Levites, according to their generations, leaders. These lived in Jerusalem.
