²¹ So the Israelites who had returned from the exile ate it, together with all who had separated themselves^(A) from the unclean practices^(B) of their Gentile neighbors in order to seek the Lord,^(C) the God of Israel.

³ When the people heard this law, they excluded from Israel all who were of foreign descent.^(A)

³⁰ So I purified the priests and the Levites of everything foreign,^(A) and assigned them duties, each to his own task.
