Prophecy Against Gog

38 The word of the Lord came to me: ^2 (A)“Son of man, ^(B)set your face toward ^(C)Gog, of the land of ^(D)Magog, the ^(E)chief prince of ^(F)Meshech^[a] and ^(G)Tubal, and ^(H)prophesy against him ³ and say, Thus says the Lord God: Behold, ^(I)I am against you, O Gog, chief prince of Meshech^[b] and Tubal. ^4 (J)And I will turn you about and ^(K)put hooks into your jaws, and I will bring you out, and ^(L)all your army, horses and horsemen, all of them clothed in full armor, a great host, all of them with buckler and shield, wielding swords. ^5 (M)Persia, ^(N)Cush, and ^(O)Put are with them, all of them with shield and helmet; ^6 (P)Gomer and all his ^(Q)hordes; ^(R)Beth-togarmah from ^(S)the uttermost parts of the north with all his hordes—^(T)many peoples are with you.

^7 (U)“Be ready and keep ready, you and all your hosts that are assembled about you, and be a guard for them. ^8 (V)After many days you will be mustered. ^(W)In the latter years you will go against ^(X)the land that is restored from war, the land whose people ^(Y)were gathered from many peoples upon ^(Z)the mountains of Israel, which had been a continual waste. Its people were brought out from the peoples and ^(AA)now dwell securely, all of them. ⁹ You will advance, coming on ^(AB)like a storm. You will be ^(AC)like a cloud covering the land, you and all your ^(AD)hordes, and many peoples with you.

¹⁰ “Thus says the Lord God: On that day, ^(AE)thoughts will come into your mind, and you will devise an evil scheme ¹¹ and say, ‘I will go up against ^(AF)the land of unwalled villages. I will fall upon ^(AG)the quiet people who dwell securely, all of them dwelling without walls, and having no bars or gates,’ ¹² to seize spoil and carry off plunder, to turn your hand against ^(AH)the waste places that are now inhabited, and ^(AI)the people who were gathered from the nations, who have acquired livestock and goods, ^(AJ)who dwell at the center of the earth. ^13 (AK)Sheba and ^(AL)Dedan and the merchants of Tarshish and all ^(AM)its leaders^[c] will say to you, ‘Have you come to seize spoil? Have you assembled your hosts to carry off plunder, to carry away silver and gold, to take away livestock and goods, to seize great spoil?’

¹⁴ “Therefore, ^(AN)son of man, prophesy, and say to ^(AO)Gog, Thus says the Lord God: On that day when my people Israel are ^(AP)dwelling securely, ^(AQ)will you not know it? ¹⁵ You will come from your place out of ^(AR)the uttermost parts of the north, you and ^(AS)many peoples with you, ^(AT)all of them riding on horses, a great host, a mighty army. ¹⁶ You will come up against my people Israel, ^(AU)like a cloud covering the land. ^(AV)In the latter days I will bring you against my land, that the nations may know me, when through you, O Gog, ^(AW)I vindicate my holiness before their eyes.

¹⁷ “Thus says the Lord God: Are you ^(AX)he of whom I spoke in former days by my servants the prophets of Israel, who in those days prophesied for years that I would bring you against them? ¹⁸ But on that day, the day that Gog shall come against the land of Israel, declares the Lord God, ^(AY)my wrath will be roused in my anger. ¹⁹ For ^(AZ)in my jealousy and in my blazing wrath I declare, On that day ^(BA)there shall be a great earthquake in the land of Israel. ^20 (BB)The fish of the sea and the birds of the heavens and the beasts of the field and all creeping things that creep on the ground, and all the people who are on the face of the earth, ^(BC)shall quake at my presence. And ^(BD)the mountains shall be thrown down, and the cliffs shall fall, and every wall shall tumble to the ground. ^21 (BE)I will summon a sword against Gog^[d] on all my mountains, declares the Lord God. ^(BF)Every man's sword will be against his brother. ²² With pestilence and bloodshed ^(BG)I will enter into judgment with him, and ^(BH)I will rain upon him and ^(BI)his hordes and the many peoples who are with him ^(BJ)torrential rains and hailstones, ^(BK)fire and sulfur. ²³ So I will show my greatness and my ^(BL)holiness and ^(BM)make myself known in the eyes of many nations. Then ^(BN)they will know that I am the Lord.

The Rider on a White Horse

¹¹ Then I saw ^(A)heaven opened, and behold, ^(B)a white horse! The one sitting on it is called ^(C)Faithful and True, and ^(D)in righteousness he judges and makes war. ^12 (E)His eyes are like a flame of fire, and on his head are ^(F)many diadems, and he has ^(G)a name written that no one knows but himself. ¹³ He is clothed in ^(H)a robe dipped in^[a] blood, and the name by which he is called is ^(I)The Word of God. ¹⁴ And the armies of heaven, ^(J)arrayed in fine linen, white and pure, ^(K)were following him on white horses. ^15 (L)From his mouth comes a sharp sword ^(M)with which to strike down the nations, and ^(N)he will rule^[b] them with a rod of iron. ^(O)He will tread the winepress of the fury of the wrath of God the Almighty. ¹⁶ On his robe and on his thigh ^(P)he has a name written, ^(Q)King of kings and Lord of lords.

¹⁷ Then I saw an angel standing in the sun, and with a loud voice he called to ^(R)all the birds that fly directly overhead, ^(S)“Come, gather for ^(T)the great supper of God, ^18 (U)to eat the flesh of kings, the flesh of captains, the flesh of mighty men, the flesh of horses and their riders, and the flesh of all men, both free and slave,^[c] both small and great.” ¹⁹ And I saw ^(V)the beast and the kings of the earth with their armies ^(W)gathered to make war against him who was sitting on the horse and against his army. ²⁰ And the beast was captured, and with it ^(X)the false prophet ^(Y)who in its presence^[d] had done the signs by which he deceived those who had received the mark of the beast and those who ^(Z)worshiped its image. These two were ^(AA)thrown alive into the lake of ^(AB)fire that burns with sulfur. ²¹ And the rest were slain by the sword ^(AC)that came from the mouth of him who was sitting on the horse, and ^(AD)all the birds were gorged with their flesh.

The Thousand Years

20 Then I saw an angel coming down from heaven, ^(AE)holding in his hand the key to ^(AF)the bottomless pit^[e] and a great chain. ² And he seized ^(AG)the dragon, that ancient serpent, who is the devil and Satan, and ^(AH)bound him for a thousand years, ³ and threw him into ^(AI)the pit, and shut it and ^(AJ)sealed it over him, so that ^(AK)he might not deceive the nations any longer, until the thousand years were ended. After that he must be released for a little while.

⁴ Then I saw ^(AL)thrones, and ^(AM)seated on them were those to whom the authority to judge was committed. Also I saw ^(AN)the souls of those who had been beheaded for the testimony of Jesus and for the word of God, and those ^(AO)who had not worshiped the beast or its image and had not received its mark on their foreheads or their hands. ^(AP)They came to life and ^(AQ)reigned with Christ for a thousand years. ⁵ The rest of the dead did not come to life until the thousand years were ended. This is the first resurrection. ^6 (AR)Blessed and holy is the one who shares in the first resurrection! Over such ^(AS)the second death has no power, but they will be ^(AT)priests of God and of Christ, and they ^(AU)will reign with him for a thousand years.

The Defeat of Satan

⁷ And when the thousand years are ended, ^(AV)Satan will be released from his prison ⁸ and will come out ^(AW)to deceive the nations that are at the four corners of the earth, ^(AX)Gog and Magog, ^(AY)to gather them for battle; their number is like the sand of the sea. ⁹ And ^(AZ)they marched up over the broad plain of the earth and surrounded ^(BA)the camp of the saints and ^(BB)the beloved city, but ^(BC)fire came down from heaven^[f] and consumed them, ¹⁰ and the devil ^(BD)who had deceived them was ^(BE)thrown into the lake of fire and sulfur where ^(BF)the beast and the false prophet were, and they will be tormented day and night forever and ever.
