Gog and Allies Attack Israel

38 Now the word of the Lord came to me, saying, ^2 (A)“Son of man, ^(B)set your face against ^(C)Gog, of the land of ^(D)Magog, ^[a]the prince of Rosh, ^(E)Meshech, and Tubal, and prophesy against him, ³ and say, ‘Thus says the Lord God: “Behold, I am against you, O Gog, the prince of Rosh, Meshech, and Tubal. ^4 (F)I will turn you around, put hooks into your jaws, and ^(G)lead you out, with all your army, horses, and horsemen, ^(H)all splendidly clothed, a great company with bucklers and shields, all of them handling swords. ⁵ Persia, ^[b]Ethiopia, and ^[c]Libya are with them, all of them with shield and helmet; ^6 (I)Gomer and all its troops; the house of ^(J)Togarmah from the far north and all its troops—many people are with you.

^7 (K)“Prepare yourself and be ready, you and all your companies that are gathered about you; and be a guard for them. ^8 (L)After many days ^(M)you will be visited. In the latter years you will come into the land of those brought back from the sword ^(N)and gathered from many people on ^(O)the mountains of Israel, which had long been desolate; they were brought out of the nations, and now all of them ^(P)dwell safely. ⁹ You will ascend, coming ^(Q)like a storm, covering the ^(R)land like a cloud, you and all your troops and many peoples with you.”

¹⁰ ‘Thus says the Lord God: “On that day it shall come to pass that thoughts will arise in your mind, and you will make an evil plan: ¹¹ You will say, ‘I will go up against a land of ^(S)unwalled villages; I will ^(T)go to a peaceful people, ^(U)who dwell ^[d]safely, all of them dwelling without walls, and having neither bars nor gates’— ¹² to take plunder and to take booty, to stretch out your hand against the waste places that are again inhabited, ^(V)and against a people gathered from the nations, who have acquired livestock and goods, who dwell in the midst of the land. ^13 (W)Sheba, ^(X)Dedan, the merchants ^(Y)of Tarshish, and all ^(Z)their young lions will say to you, ‘Have you come to take plunder? Have you gathered your army to take booty, to carry away silver and gold, to take away livestock and goods, to take great plunder?’ ” ’

¹⁴ “Therefore, son of man, prophesy and say to Gog, ‘Thus says the Lord God: ^(AA)“On that day when My people Israel ^(AB)dwell safely, will you not know it? ^15 (AC)Then you will come from your place out of the far north, you and many peoples with you, all of them riding on horses, a great company and a mighty army. ¹⁶ You will come up against My people Israel like a cloud, to cover the land. It will be in the latter days that I will bring you against My land, so that the nations may ^(AD)know Me, when I am ^(AE)hallowed in you, O Gog, before their eyes.” ¹⁷ Thus says the Lord God: “Are you he of whom I have spoken in former days by My servants the prophets of Israel, who prophesied for years in those days that I would bring you against them?

Judgment on Gog

¹⁸ “And it will come to pass at the same time, when Gog comes against the land of Israel,” says the Lord God, “that My fury will show in My face. ¹⁹ For ^(AF)in My jealousy ^(AG)and in the fire of My wrath I have spoken: ^(AH)‘Surely in that day there shall be a great ^[e]earthquake in the land of Israel, ²⁰ so that ^(AI)the fish of the sea, the birds of the heavens, the beasts of the field, all creeping things that creep on the earth, and all men who are on the face of the earth shall shake at My presence. ^(AJ)The mountains shall be thrown down, the steep places shall fall, and every wall shall fall to the ground.’ ²¹ I will ^(AK)call for ^(AL)a sword against Gog throughout all My mountains,” says the Lord God. ^(AM)“Every man’s sword will be against his brother. ²² And I will ^(AN)bring him to judgment with ^(AO)pestilence and bloodshed; ^(AP)I will rain down on him, on his troops, and on the many peoples who are with him, flooding rain, ^(AQ)great hailstones, fire, and brimstone. ²³ Thus I will magnify Myself and ^(AR)sanctify Myself, ^(AS)and I will be known in the eyes of many nations. Then they shall know that I am the Lord.” ’

Gog’s Armies Destroyed

39 “And ^(A)you, son of man, prophesy against Gog, and say, ‘Thus says the Lord God: “Behold, I am against you, O Gog, ^[a]the prince of Rosh, Meshech, and Tubal; ² and I will ^(B)turn you around and lead you on, ^(C)bringing you up from the far north, and bring you against the mountains of Israel. ³ Then I will knock the bow out of your left hand, and cause the arrows to fall out of your right hand. ^4 (D)You shall ^[b]fall upon the mountains of Israel, you and all your troops and the peoples who are with you; ^(E)I will give you to birds of prey of every sort and to the beasts of the field to be devoured. ⁵ You shall ^[c]fall on ^[d]the open field; for I have spoken,” says the Lord God. ^6 (F)“And I will send fire on Magog and on those who live ^[e]in security in ^(G)the coastlands. Then they shall know that I am the Lord. ^7 (H)So I will make My holy name known in the midst of My people Israel, and I will not let them ^(I)profane My holy name anymore. ^(J)Then the nations shall know that I am the Lord, the Holy One in Israel. ^8 (K)Surely it is coming, and it shall be done,” says the Lord God. “This is the day ^(L)of which I have spoken.

⁹ “Then those who dwell in the cities of Israel will go out and set on fire and burn the weapons, both the shields and bucklers, the bows and arrows, the ^[f]javelins and spears; and they will make fires with them for seven years. ¹⁰ They will not take wood from the field nor cut down any from the forests, because they will make fires with the weapons; ^(M)and they will plunder those who plundered them, and pillage those who pillaged them,” says the Lord God.

The Burial of Gog

¹¹ “It will come to pass in that day that I will give Gog a burial place there in Israel, the valley of those who pass by east of the sea; and it will obstruct travelers, because there they will bury Gog and all his multitude. Therefore they will call it the Valley of ^[g]Hamon Gog. ¹² For seven months the house of Israel will be burying them, ^(N)in order to cleanse the land. ¹³ Indeed all the people of the land will be burying, and they will gain ^(O)renown for it on the day that ^(P)I am glorified,” says the Lord God. ¹⁴ “They will set apart men regularly employed, with the help of ^[h]a search party, to pass through the land and bury those bodies remaining on the ground, in order ^(Q)to cleanse it. At the end of seven months they will make a search. ¹⁵ The search party will pass through the land; and when anyone sees a man’s bone, he shall ^[i]set up a marker by it, till the buriers have buried it in the Valley of Hamon Gog. ¹⁶ The name of the city will also be ^[j]Hamonah. Thus they shall ^(R)cleanse the land.” ’

A Triumphant Festival

¹⁷ “And as for you, son of man, thus says the Lord God, ^(S)‘Speak to every sort of bird and to every beast of the field:

Israel Restored to the Land

^21 (AA)“I will set My glory among the nations; all the nations shall see My judgment which I have executed, and ^(AB)My hand which I have laid on them. ^22 (AC)So the house of Israel shall know that I am the Lord their God from that day forward. ^23 (AD)The Gentiles shall know that the house of Israel went into captivity for their iniquity; because they were unfaithful to Me, therefore ^(AE)I hid My face from them. I ^(AF)gave them into the hand of their enemies, and they all fell by the sword. ^24 (AG)According to their uncleanness and according to their transgressions I have dealt with them, and hidden My face from them.” ’

²⁵ “Therefore thus says the Lord God: ^(AH)‘Now I will bring back the captives of Jacob, and have mercy on the ^(AI)whole house of Israel; and I will be jealous for My holy name— ^26 (AJ)after they have borne their shame, and all their unfaithfulness in which they were unfaithful to Me, when they ^(AK)dwelt safely in their own land and no one made them afraid. ^27 (AL)When I have brought them back from the peoples and gathered them out of their enemies’ lands, and I ^(AM)am hallowed in them in the sight of many nations, ^28 (AN)then they shall know that I am the Lord their God, who sent them into captivity among the nations, but also brought them back to their land, and left none of them ^[k]captive any longer. ^29 (AO)And I will not hide My face from them anymore; for I shall have ^(AP)poured out My Spirit on the house of Israel,’ says the Lord God.”

Jesus Predicts the Destruction of the Temple^(A)

13 Then ^(B)as He went out of the temple, one of His disciples said to Him, “Teacher, see what manner of stones and what buildings are here!”

² And Jesus answered and said to him, “Do you see these great buildings? ^(C)Not one stone shall be left upon another, that shall not be thrown down.”

The Signs of the Times and the End of the Age^(D)

³ Now as He sat on the Mount of Olives opposite the temple, ^(E)Peter, ^(F)James, ^(G)John, and ^(H)Andrew asked Him privately, ^4 (I)“Tell us, when will these things be? And what will be the sign when all these things will be fulfilled?”

⁵ And Jesus, answering them, began to say: ^(J)“Take heed that no one deceives you. ⁶ For many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am He,’ and will deceive many. ⁷ But when you hear of wars and rumors of wars, do not be troubled; for such things must happen, but the end is not yet. ⁸ For nation will rise against nation, and ^(K)kingdom against kingdom. And there will be earthquakes in various places, and there will be famines ^[a]and troubles. ^(L)These are the beginnings of ^[b]sorrows.

⁹ “But ^(M)watch out for yourselves, for they will deliver you up to councils, and you will be beaten in the synagogues. You will ^[c]be brought before rulers and kings for My sake, for a testimony to them. ¹⁰ And ^(N)the gospel must first be preached to all the nations. ^11 (O)But when they arrest you and deliver you up, do not worry beforehand, ^[d]or premeditate what you will speak. But whatever is given you in that hour, speak that; for it is not you who speak, ^(P)but the Holy Spirit. ¹² Now ^(Q)brother will betray brother to death, and a father his child; and children will rise up against parents and cause them to be put to death. ^13 (R)And you will be hated by all for My name’s sake. But ^(S)he who ^[e]endures to the end shall be saved.

The Great Tribulation^(T)

^14 (U)“So when you see the ^(V)‘abomination of desolation,’ ^[f]spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing where it ought not” (let the reader understand), “then ^(W)let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains. ¹⁵ Let him who is on the housetop not go down into the house, nor enter to take anything out of his house. ¹⁶ And let him who is in the field not go back to get his clothes. ^17 (X)But woe to those who are pregnant and to those who are nursing babies in those days! ¹⁸ And pray that your flight may not be in winter. ^19 (Y)For in those days there will be tribulation, such as has not been since the beginning of the creation which God created until this time, nor ever shall be. ²⁰ And unless the Lord had shortened those days, no flesh would be saved; but for the elect’s sake, whom He chose, He shortened the days.

^21 (Z)“Then if anyone says to you, ‘Look, here is the Christ!’ or, ‘Look, He is there!’ do not believe it. ²² For false christs and false prophets will rise and show signs and ^(AA)wonders to deceive, if possible, even the ^[g]elect. ²³ But ^(AB)take heed; see, I have told you all things beforehand.

The Coming of the Son of Man^(AC)

^24 (AD)“But in those days, after that tribulation, the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; ²⁵ the stars of heaven will fall, and the powers in the heavens will be ^(AE)shaken. ^26 (AF)Then they will see the Son of Man coming in the clouds with great power and glory. ²⁷ And then He will send His angels, and gather together His ^[h]elect from the four winds, from the farthest part of earth to the farthest part of heaven.

The Parable of the Fig Tree^(AG)

^28 (AH)“Now learn this parable from the fig tree: When its branch has already become tender, and puts forth leaves, you know that summer is near. ²⁹ So you also, when you see these things happening, know that ^[i]it is near—at the doors! ³⁰ Assuredly, I say to you, this generation will by no means pass away till all these things take place. ³¹ Heaven and earth will pass away, but ^(AI)My words will by no means pass away.

No One Knows the Day or Hour^(AJ)

³² “But of that day and hour ^(AK)no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the ^(AL)Father. ^33 (AM)Take heed, watch and pray; for you do not know when the time is. ^34 (AN)It is like a man going to a far country, who left his house and gave ^(AO)authority to his servants, and to each his work, and commanded the doorkeeper to watch. ^35 (AP)Watch therefore, for you do not know when the master of the house is coming—in the evening, at midnight, at the crowing of the rooster, or in the morning— ³⁶ lest, coming suddenly, he find you sleeping. ³⁷ And what I say to you, I say to all: Watch!”

Satan Bound 1,000 Years

20 Then I saw an angel coming down from heaven, ^(A)having the key to the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand. ² He laid hold of ^(B)the dragon, that serpent of old, who is the Devil and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years; ³ and he cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and ^(C)set a seal on him, ^(D)so that he should deceive the nations no more till the thousand years were finished. But after these things he must be released for a little while.

The Saints Reign with Christ 1,000 Years

⁴ And I saw ^(E)thrones, and they sat on them, and ^(F)judgment was committed to them. Then I saw ^(G)the souls of those who had been beheaded for their witness to Jesus and for the word of God, ^(H)who had not worshiped the beast ^(I)or his image, and had not received his mark on their foreheads or on their hands. And they ^(J)lived and ^(K)reigned with Christ for ^[a]a thousand years. ⁵ But the rest of the dead did not live again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection. ⁶ Blessed and holy is he who has part in the first resurrection. Over such ^(L)the second death has no power, but they shall be ^(M)priests of God and of Christ, ^(N)and shall reign with Him a thousand years.

Satanic Rebellion Crushed^(O)

⁷ Now when the thousand years have expired, Satan will be released from his prison ⁸ and will go out ^(P)to deceive the nations which are in the four corners of the earth, ^(Q)Gog and Magog, ^(R)to gather them together to battle, whose number is as the sand of the sea. ^9 (S)They went up on the breadth of the earth and surrounded the camp of the saints and the beloved city. And fire came down from God out of heaven and devoured them. ¹⁰ The devil, who deceived them, was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone ^(T)where^[b] the beast and the false prophet are. And they ^(U)will be tormented day and night forever and ever.

The Great White Throne Judgment

¹¹ Then I saw a great white throne and Him who sat on it, from whose face ^(V)the earth and the heaven fled away. ^(W)And there was found no place for them. ¹² And I saw the dead, ^(X)small and great, standing before ^[c]God, ^(Y)and books were opened. And another ^(Z)book was opened, which is the Book of Life. And the dead were judged ^(AA)according to their works, by the things which were written in the books. ¹³ The sea gave up the dead who were in it, ^(AB)and Death and Hades delivered up the dead who were in them. ^(AC)And they were judged, each one according to his works. ¹⁴ Then ^(AD)Death and Hades were cast into the lake of fire. ^(AE)This is the second ^[d]death. ¹⁵ And anyone not found written in the Book of Life ^(AF)was cast into the lake of fire.

All Things Made New

21 Now ^(AG)I saw a new heaven and a new earth, ^(AH)for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away. Also there was no more sea. ² Then I, ^[e]John, saw ^(AI)the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared ^(AJ)as a bride adorned for her husband. ³ And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, “Behold, ^(AK)the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God. ^4 (AL)And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; ^(AM)there shall be no more death, ^(AN)nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.”

⁵ Then ^(AO)He who sat on the throne said, ^(AP)“Behold, I make all things new.” And He said ^[f]to me, “Write, for ^(AQ)these words are true and faithful.”

⁶ And He said to me, ^(AR)“It^[g] is done! ^(AS)I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. ^(AT)I will give of the fountain of the water of life freely to him who thirsts. ⁷ He who overcomes ^[h]shall inherit all things, and ^(AU)I will be his God and he shall be My son. ^8 (AV)But the cowardly, ^[i]unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in ^(AW)the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.”

The New Jerusalem^(AX)

⁹ Then one of ^(AY)the seven angels who had the seven bowls filled with the seven last plagues came ^[j]to me and talked with me, saying, “Come, I will show you ^(AZ)the ^[k]bride, the Lamb’s wife.” ¹⁰ And he carried me away ^(BA)in the Spirit to a great and high mountain, and showed me ^(BB)the ^[l]great city, the ^[m]holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God, ^11 (BC)having the glory of God. Her light was like a most precious stone, like a jasper stone, clear as crystal. ¹² Also she had a great and high wall with ^(BD)twelve gates, and twelve angels at the gates, and names written on them, which are the names of the twelve tribes of the children of Israel: ^13 (BE)three gates on the east, three gates on the north, three gates on the south, and three gates on the west.

¹⁴ Now the wall of the city had twelve foundations, and ^(BF)on them were the ^[n]names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb. ¹⁵ And he who talked with me ^(BG)had a gold reed to measure the city, its gates, and its wall. ¹⁶ The city is laid out as a square; its length is as great as its breadth. And he measured the city with the reed: twelve thousand ^[o]furlongs. Its length, breadth, and height are equal. ¹⁷ Then he measured its wall: one hundred and forty-four cubits, according to the measure of a man, that is, of an angel. ¹⁸ The construction of its wall was of jasper; and the city was pure gold, like clear glass. ^19 (BH)The foundations of the wall of the city were adorned with all kinds of precious stones: the first foundation was jasper, the second sapphire, the third chalcedony, the fourth emerald, ²⁰ the fifth sardonyx, the sixth sardius, the seventh chrysolite, the eighth beryl, the ninth topaz, the tenth chrysoprase, the eleventh jacinth, and the twelfth amethyst. ²¹ The twelve gates were twelve ^(BI)pearls: each individual gate was of one pearl. ^(BJ)And the street of the city was pure gold, like transparent glass.

The Glory of the New Jerusalem

^22 (BK)But I saw no temple in it, for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple. ^23 (BL)The city had no need of the sun or of the moon to shine ^[p]in it, for the ^[q]glory of God illuminated it. The Lamb is its light. ^24 (BM)And the nations ^[r]of those who are saved shall walk in its light, and the kings of the earth bring their glory and honor ^[s]into it. ^25 (BN)Its gates shall not be shut at all by day ^(BO)(there shall be no night there). ^26 (BP)And they shall bring the glory and the honor of the nations into ^[t]it. ²⁷ But ^(BQ)there shall by no means enter it anything ^[u]that defiles, or causes an abomination or a lie, but only those who are written in the Lamb’s ^(BR)Book of Life.

The River of Life

22 And he showed me ^(BS)a ^[v]pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding from the throne of God and of the Lamb. ^2 (BT)In the middle of its street, and on either side of the river, was ^(BU)the tree of life, which bore twelve fruits, each tree yielding its fruit every month. The leaves of the tree were ^(BV)for the healing of the nations. ³ And ^(BW)there shall be no more curse, ^(BX)but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it, and His ^(BY)servants shall serve Him. ^4 (BZ)They shall see His face, and ^(CA)His name shall be on their foreheads. ^5 (CB)There shall be no night there: They need no lamp nor ^(CC)light of the sun, for ^(CD)the Lord God gives them light. ^(CE)And they shall reign forever and ever.

The Time Is Near

⁶ Then he said to me, ^(CF)“These words are faithful and true.” And the Lord God of the ^[w]holy prophets ^(CG)sent His angel to show His servants the things which must ^(CH)shortly take place.

^7 (CI)“Behold, I am coming quickly! ^(CJ)Blessed is he who keeps the words of the prophecy of this book.”

⁸ Now I, John, ^[x]saw and heard these things. And when I heard and saw, ^(CK)I fell down to worship before the feet of the angel who showed me these things.

⁹ Then he said to me, ^(CL)“See that you do not do that. ^[y]For I am your fellow servant, and of your brethren the prophets, and of those who keep the words of this book. Worship God.” ^10 (CM)And he said to me, “Do not seal the words of the prophecy of this book, ^(CN)for the time is at hand. ¹¹ He who is unjust, let him be unjust still; he who is filthy, let him be filthy still; he who is righteous, let him ^[z]be righteous still; he who is holy, let him be holy still.”

Jesus Testifies to the Churches

¹² “And behold, I am coming quickly, and ^(CO)My reward is with Me, ^(CP)to give to every one according to his work. ^13 (CQ)I am the Alpha and the Omega, the ^[aa]Beginning and the End, the First and the Last.”

^14 (CR)Blessed are those who ^[ab]do His commandments, that they may have the right ^(CS)to the tree of life, ^(CT)and may enter through the gates into the city. ^15 [ac]But ^(CU)outside are ^(CV)dogs and sorcerers and sexually immoral and murderers and idolaters, and whoever loves and practices a lie.

^16 (CW)“I, Jesus, have sent My angel to testify to you these things in the churches. ^(CX)I am the Root and the Offspring of David, ^(CY)the Bright and Morning Star.”

¹⁷ And the Spirit and ^(CZ)the bride say, “Come!” And let him who hears say, “Come!” ^(DA)And let him who thirsts come. Whoever desires, let him take the water of life freely.

A Warning

^18 [ad]For I testify to everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: ^(DB)If anyone adds to these things, ^[ae]God will add to him the plagues that are written in this book; ¹⁹ and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, ^(DC)God^[af] shall take away his part from the ^[ag]Book of Life, from the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.

I Am Coming Quickly

²⁰ He who testifies to these things says, “Surely I am coming quickly.”

Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus!
