8 They will throw you into a pit,
and you will die a violent death in the sea.
9 You will no longer say that you are a god
when you face those who kill you.
You will be a human, not a god, in the hands of those who kill you.
10 You will die at the hands of foreigners like a godless person.

English Standard Version
8 (A)They shall thrust you down into the pit,
(B)and you shall die the death of the slain
in the heart of the seas.
9 (C)Will you still say, ‘I am a god,’
in the presence of those who kill you,
though (D)you are but a man, and no god,
in the hands of those who slay you?
10 (E)You shall die the death of the uncircumcised
by the hand of foreigners;
(F)for I have spoken, declares the Lord God.”
