²⁰ And you shall take some of its blood and put it on the four horns of the altar and on the four corners of the ledge and upon the rim all around; thus you shall purify it and make atonement for it.

¹⁹ He shall sprinkle some of the blood on it with his finger seven times and cleanse it and sanctify it from the uncleannesses of the Israelites.^(A)

¹⁵ and it was slaughtered. Moses took the blood and with his finger put some on each of the horns of the altar, purifying the altar; then he poured out the blood at the base of the altar. Thus he consecrated it, to make atonement for it.^(A)

²⁶ Seven days shall they make atonement for the altar and cleanse it and so consecrate it.

²² “On the second day you shall offer a male goat without blemish for a purification offering, and the altar shall be purified, as it was purified with the bull.

⁹ The sons of Aaron presented the blood to him, and he dipped his finger in the blood and put it on the horns of the altar, and the rest of the blood he poured out at the base of the altar.^(A)

³⁶ Also every day you shall offer a bull as a purification offering for atonement. Also you shall offer a sin offering for the altar, when you make atonement for it, and shall anoint it, to consecrate it.^(A)

¹² and shall take some of the blood of the bull and put it on the horns of the altar with your finger, and all the rest of the blood you shall pour out at the base of the altar.^(A)

²¹ And in the same way he sprinkled with the blood both the tent^[a] and all the vessels used in worship.^{(A) 22} Indeed, under the law almost everything is purified with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness of sins.^(B)

Christ’s Sacrifice Takes Away Sin

²³ Thus it was necessary for the sketches of the heavenly things to be purified with these rites, but the heavenly things themselves need better sacrifices than these.

¹⁵ and the altar hearth, four cubits, and from the altar hearth projecting upward, four horns.^{(A) 16} The altar hearth shall be square, twelve cubits long by twelve wide.^{(B) 17} The ledge also shall be square, fourteen cubits long by fourteen wide, with a rim around it half a cubit high, and its surrounding base, one cubit. Its steps shall face east.”^(C)
