¹⁷ The upper ledge^(A) also is square, fourteen cubits^[a] long and fourteen cubits wide. All around the altar is a gutter of one cubit with a rim of half a cubit.^[b] The steps^(B) of the altar face east.^(C)”

²⁶ And do not go up to my altar on steps, or your private parts^(A) may be exposed.’

⁶ Then he went to the east gate.^(A) He climbed its steps and measured the threshold of the gate; it was one rod deep.

¹⁶ He then brought me into the inner court^(A) of the house of the Lord, and there at the entrance to the temple, between the portico and the altar,^(B) were about twenty-five men. With their backs toward the temple of the Lord and their faces toward the east, they were bowing down to the sun^(C) in the east.^(D)

⁴ Standing on the stairs of the Levites^(A) were Jeshua, Bani, Kadmiel, Shebaniah, Bunni, Sherebiah, Bani and Kenani. They cried out with loud voices to the Lord their God.

³² With the stones he built an altar in the name^(A) of the Lord, and he dug a trench around it large enough to hold two seahs^[a] of seed.

⁸ The entrance to the lowest^[a] floor was on the south side of the temple; a stairway led up to the middle level and from there to the third.

³ Overlay the top and all the sides and the horns with pure gold, and make a gold molding around it.^(A)

²⁵ Also make around it a rim a handbreadth^[a] wide and put a gold molding on the rim.
