¹⁸ Now the coastlands tremble
    on the day of your fall,
and the coastlands that are on the sea
    are dismayed at your passing.’

⁵ When the report comes to Egypt,
    they will be in anguish^[a] over the report about Tyre.
^6 (A)Cross over to Tarshish;
    wail, O inhabitants of the coast!
⁷ Is this your exultant city
    ^(B)whose origin is from days of old,
whose feet carried her
    to settle far away?

^35 (A)All the inhabitants of the coastlands
    are appalled at you,
and ^(B)the hair of their kings bristles with horror;
    their faces are convulsed.

²⁸ At the sound of the cry of your pilots
    ^(A)the countryside shakes,
²⁹ and down from their ships
    ^(B)come all who handle the oar.
The mariners and all the pilots of the sea
    stand on the land
^30 (C)and shout aloud over you
    and cry out bitterly.
^(D)They cast dust on their heads
    ^(E)and wallow in ashes;

¹⁰ Cross over your land like the Nile,
    O daughter of Tarshish;
    there is no restraint anymore.
^11 (A)He has stretched out his hand over the sea;
    he has shaken the kingdoms;
the Lord has given command concerning Canaan
    to destroy its strongholds.
¹² And he said:
“You will no more exult,
    O oppressed virgin daughter of ^(B)Sidon;
arise, ^(C)cross over to ^(D)Cyprus,
    even there you will have no rest.”
