⁷ And so she prostituted herself with the most desirable men of Assyria, worshiping their idols^[a] and defiling herself.

³ and give her this message from the Sovereign Lord: O city of murderers, doomed and damned—city of idols,^[a] filthy and foul— ⁴ you are guilty because of the blood you have shed. You are defiled because of the idols you have made. Your day of destruction has come! You have reached the end of your years. I will make you an object of mockery throughout the world.

⁷ Then I said to them, ‘Each of you, get rid of the vile images you are so obsessed with. Do not defile yourselves with the idols^[a] of Egypt, for I am the Lord your God.’

³⁰ You brought all this on yourself by prostituting yourself to other nations, defiling yourself with all their idols.

¹⁵ “But you thought your fame and beauty were your own. So you gave yourself as a prostitute to every man who came along. Your beauty was theirs for the asking.
