¹⁰ In you men ^(A)uncover their fathers’ nakedness; in you they violate women who are ^(B)set apart during their impurity.

¹⁹ ‘Also you shall not approach a woman to uncover her nakedness as ^(A)long as she is in her ^(B)customary impurity.

¹¹ The man who lies with his ^(A)father’s wife has uncovered his father’s nakedness; both of them shall surely be put to death. Their blood shall be upon them.

⁷ The nakedness of your father or the nakedness of your mother you shall not uncover. She is your mother; you shall not uncover her nakedness. ⁸ The nakedness of your ^(A)father’s wife you shall not uncover; it is your father’s nakedness.

Immorality Defiles the Church

5 It is actually reported that there is sexual immorality among you, and such sexual immorality as is not even ^[a]named among the Gentiles—that a man has his father’s ^(A)wife!

The Family of Reuben^(A)

5 Now the sons of Reuben the firstborn of Israel—^(B)he was indeed the firstborn, but because he ^(C)defiled his father’s bed, ^(D)his birthright was given to the sons of Joseph, the son of Israel, so that the genealogy is not listed according to the birthright;

²¹ And Ahithophel said to Absalom, “Go in to your father’s ^(A)concubines, whom he has left to keep the house; and all Israel will hear that you ^(B)are abhorred by your father. Then ^(C)the hands of all who are with you will be strong.” ²² So they pitched a tent for Absalom on the top of the house, and Absalom went in to his father’s concubines ^(D)in the sight of all Israel.
