¹⁶ ‘As I live,’ says the Lord God, ‘surely ^(A)in the place where the king dwells who made him king, whose oath he despised and whose covenant he broke—with him in the midst of Babylon he shall die.

¹³ I will also spread My ^(A)net over him, and he shall be caught in My snare. ^(B)I will bring him to Babylon, to the land of the Chaldeans; yet he shall not see it, though he shall die there.

¹¹ He also ^(A)put out the eyes of Zedekiah; and the king of Babylon bound him in ^[a]bronze fetters, took him to Babylon, and put him in prison till the day of his death.

³ Then he said to me, “This is the ^(A)curse that goes out over the face of the whole earth: ‘Every thief shall be expelled,’ according to this side of the scroll; and, ‘Every perjurer shall be expelled,’ according to that side of it.”

¹⁸ Since he despised the oath by breaking the covenant, and in fact ^(A)gave^[a] his hand and still did all these things, he shall not escape.’ ”

¹⁹ Therefore thus says the Lord God: “As I live, surely My oath which he despised, and My covenant which he broke, I will recompense on his own head.

^13 (A)And he took the king’s offspring, made a covenant with him, ^(B)and put him under oath. He also took away the mighty of the land,

⁵⁹ For thus says the Lord God: “I will deal with you as you have done, who ^(A)despised ^(B)the oath by breaking the covenant.

⁷ Moreover ^(A)he put out Zedekiah’s eyes, and bound him with bronze ^[a]fetters to carry him off to Babylon.

⁴ and Zedekiah king of Judah ^(A)shall not escape from the hand of the Chaldeans, but shall surely be delivered into the hand of the king of Babylon, and shall speak with him ^[a]face to face, and see him ^(B)eye to eye; ⁵ then he shall ^(C)lead Zedekiah to Babylon, and there he shall be ^(D)until I visit him,” says the Lord; ^(E)“though you fight with the Chaldeans, you shall not succeed” ’?”
