Ezekiel 28
New American Standard Bible
Tyre’s King Overthrown
28 The word of the Lord came again to me, saying, 2 “Son of man, say to the [a]leader of Tyre, ‘The Lord [b]God says this:
“Because your heart is haughty
And you have said, ‘(A)I am a god,
I sit in the seat of [c]gods
In the heart of the seas’;
Yet you are a (B)mortal and not God,
Although you make your heart like the heart of God—
3 Behold, you are wiser than (C)Daniel;
There is no secret that is a match for you!
4 By your wisdom and understanding
You have acquired (D)riches for yourself
And have acquired gold and silver for your treasuries.
5 By your great wisdom, by your (E)trade
You have increased your riches,
And your (F)heart is haughty because of your riches—
6 Therefore this is what the Lord God says:
‘Because you have (G)made your heart
Like the heart of God,
7 Therefore, behold, I am going to bring (H)strangers against you,
The (I)most ruthless of the nations.
And they will draw their swords
Against the beauty of your wisdom
And profane your splendor.
8 They will bring you down to the pit,
And you will die the (J)death of those who are killed
In the heart of the seas.
9 Will you still say, “I am a god,”
In the presence of one who kills you,
Though you are a mortal and not God,
In the hands of those who wound you?
10 You will die the death of the (K)uncircumcised
By the hand of strangers,
For I have spoken!’ declares the Lord God!”’”
11 Again the word of the Lord came to me, saying, 12 “Son of man, (L)take up a song of mourning over the king of Tyre and say to him, ‘This is what the Lord God says:
“You [d]had the seal of [e]perfection,
Full of wisdom and perfect in beauty.
13 You were in (M)Eden, the garden of God;
(N)Every precious stone was your covering:
The (O)ruby, the topaz and the diamond;
The beryl, the onyx and the jasper;
The lapis lazuli, the turquoise and the emerald;
And the gold, the workmanship of your [f](P)settings and [g]sockets,
Was in you.
On the day that you were created
They were prepared.
14 You were the (Q)anointed cherub who [h]covers,
And I placed you there.
You were on the holy (R)mountain of God;
You walked in the midst of the (S)stones of fire.
15 You were (T)blameless in your ways
From the day you were created
Until (U)unrighteousness was found in you.
16 By the (V)abundance of your trade
[i]You were internally (W)filled with violence,
And you sinned;
Therefore I have cast you as profane
From the mountain of God.
And I have destroyed you, you [j]covering cherub,
From the midst of the stones of fire.
17 Your heart was haughty because of your (X)beauty;
You (Y)corrupted your wisdom by reason of your splendor.
I threw you to the ground;
I put you before (Z)kings,
That they may see you.
18 By the multitude of your wrongdoings,
In the unrighteousness of your trade
You profaned your sanctuaries.
Therefore I have brought (AA)fire from the midst of you;
It has consumed you,
And I have turned you to (AB)ashes on the earth
In the eyes of all who see you.
19 All who know you among the peoples
Are appalled at you;
You have become [k](AC)terrified
And you will cease to be (AD)forever.”’”
Judgment of Sidon
20 And the word of the Lord came to me, saying, 21 “Son of man, (AE)set your face toward (AF)Sidon, prophesy against her 22 and say, ‘This is what the Lord God says:
“Behold, I am against you, Sidon,
And I will appear in My glory in your midst.
Then they will know that I am the Lord, when I (AG)execute judgments against her,
And I will reveal Myself as holy in her.
23 For (AH)I will send a plague to her
And blood to her streets,
And the (AI)wounded will [l]fall in her midst
By the sword upon her on every side;
Then they will know that I am the Lord.
24 And there will no longer be for the house of Israel a (AJ)painful thorn or a hurtful thorn bush from any surrounding them who despised them; then they will know that I am the Lord God.”
Israel Regathered
25 ‘This is what the Lord God says: “When I (AK)gather the house of Israel from the peoples among whom they are scattered, and show Myself holy among them in the sight of the nations, then they will (AL)live on their land which I gave to My servant Jacob. 26 They will (AM)live on it securely; and they will (AN)build houses, plant vineyards, and live securely when I (AO)execute judgments upon all around them who despise them. Then they will know that I am the Lord their God.”’”

Psalm 77
New American Standard Bible
Comfort in Trouble from Recalling God’s Mighty Deeds.
For the music director; [a]according to Jeduthun. A Psalm of Asaph.
77 My voice rises to God, and I will (A)cry aloud;
My voice rises to God, and He will listen to me.
2 In the (B)day of my trouble I sought the Lord;
(C)In the night my (D)hand was stretched out and did not grow weary;
My soul (E)refused to be comforted.
3 When I remember God, then I am (F)restless;
When I (G)sigh, then (H)my spirit feels weak. Selah
4 You have held my eyelids open;
I am so troubled that I (I)cannot speak.
5 I have considered the (J)days of old,
The years of long ago.
6 I will remember my (K)song in the night;
I (L)will meditate with my heart,
And my spirit [b]ponders:
7 Will the Lord (M)reject forever?
And will He (N)never be favorable again?
8 Has His (O)favor ceased forever?
Has His [c](P)promise come to an end [d]forever?
9 Has God (Q)forgotten to be gracious,
Or has He in anger [e]withdrawn His (R)compassion? Selah
10 Then I said, “(S)It is my [f]grief,
That the (T)right hand of the Most High has changed.”
11 I shall remember the (U)deeds of [g]the Lord;
I will certainly (V)remember Your wonders of old.
12 I will (W)meditate on all Your work,
And on Your deeds with thanksgiving.
13 Your way, God, is (X)holy;
(Y)What god is great like our God?
14 You are the (Z)God who works wonders;
You have (AA)made known Your strength among the peoples.
15 By Your [h]power You have (AB)redeemed Your people,
The sons of Jacob and (AC)Joseph. Selah
16 The (AD)waters saw You, God;
The waters saw You, they were in anguish;
The ocean depths also trembled.
17 The (AE)clouds poured out water;
The skies [i](AF)sounded out;
Your (AG)arrows [j]flashed here and there.
18 The (AH)sound of Your thunder was in the whirlwind;
The (AI)lightning lit up the world;
The (AJ)earth trembled and shook.
19 Your (AK)way was in the sea
And Your paths in the mighty waters,
And Your footprints were not known.
20 You (AL)led Your people like a flock
By the hand of (AM)Moses and Aaron.
