Exodus 6
Revised Geneva Translation
6 Then the LORD said to Moses, “Now you shall see what I will do to Pharaoh. For by a strong hand, he shall let them go, and even be constrained to drive them out of his land.”
2 Moreover, God spoke to Moses, and said to him, “I am the LORD.
3 “And I appeared to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob by the Name of Almighty God. But by My Name, ‘Jehovah’, I was not known to them.
4 “Furthermore, as I made My covenant with them to give them the land of Canaan (the land of their pilgrimage, wherein they were strangers),
5 “so I have also heard the groaning of the children of Israel whom the Egyptians keep in bondage. And I have remembered My covenant.
6 “Therefore, say to the children of Israel, ‘I am the LORD; and I will bring you out from the burdens of the Egyptians, and will deliver you out of their bondage, and will redeem you with an outstretched arm, and in great judgments.’
7 “Also, I will take you for My people, and will be your God. Then you shall know that I, the LORD your God, brings you out from the burdens of the Egyptians.
8 “And I will bring you into the land which I swore that I would give to Abraham, and to Isaac, and to Jacob. And I will give it to you for a possession. I am the LORD.”
9 So, Moses told this to the children of Israel. But they did not listen to Moses, because of anguish of spirit and cruel bondage.
10 Then the LORD spoke to Moses, saying,
11 “Go tell Pharaoh, King of Egypt, to let the children of Israel go out of his land.”
12 But Moses spoke before the LORD, saying, “Behold, I am of uncircumcised lips. The children of Israel do not listen to me. How then shall Pharaoh hear me?”
13 Then the LORD spoke to Moses and Aaron and charged them to go to the children of Israel and to Pharaoh, King of Egypt, to bring the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt.
14 These are the heads of their father’s houses. The sons of Reuben, the firstborn of Israel, are Hanoch and Pallu, Hezron and Carmi. These are the families of Reuben.
15 Also, the sons of Simeon: Jemuel and Jamin, and Ohad, and Jachin, and Zohar, and Shaul (the son of a Canaanitish woman). These are the families of Simeon.
16 These, also, are the names of the sons of Levi, in their generations: Gershon and Kohath and Merari (and the years of the life of Levi were a hundred thirty-seven years).
17 The sons of Gershon were Libni and Shimi, by their families,
18 and the sons of Kohath: Amram and Izhar, and Hebron, and Uzziel. And Kohath lived a hundred thirty-three years.
19 Also, the sons of Merari were Mahli and Mushi. These are the families of Levi and their kindreds.
20 And Amram took Jochebed, his father’s sister, to be his wife. And she bore him Aaron and Moses. And Amram lived a hundred thirty-seven years.
21 Also, the sons of Izhar were Korah, and Nepheg, and Zichri.
22 And the sons of Uzziel were Mishael, and Elzaphan, and Zithri.
23 And Aaron took Elisheba, daughter of Amminadab, sister of Nahshon, to be his wife. She bore him Nadab, and Abihu, Eleazar and Ithamar.

25 And Eleazar, Aaron’s son, took one of the daughters of Putiel to be his wife, who bore him Phinehas. These are the principal fathers of the Levites, throughout their families.
26 These are Aaron and Moses, to whom the LORD said, “Bring the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt, according to their armies.”
27 These are that Moses and Aaron who spoke to Pharaoh, King of Egypt, that they might bring the children of Israel out of Egypt.
28 And at that time—when the LORD spoke to Moses in the land of Egypt—
29 the LORD spoke to Moses, saying, “I am the LORD. Speak to Pharaoh, the King of Egypt, all that I say to you.”
30 Then Moses said before the LORD, “Behold, I am of uncircumcised lips. How, then, shall Pharaoh hear me?”
