⁵ And ^(A)the Lord descended in the cloud and stood there with him as he ^[a]called upon the name of the Lord. ⁶ Then the Lord passed by in front of him and proclaimed, “The Lord, the Lord God, ^(B)compassionate and merciful, slow to anger, and abounding in faithfulness and ^[b]truth; ⁷ who ^(C)keeps faithfulness for thousands, who forgives wrongdoing, violation of His Law, and sin; yet He ^(D)will by no means leave the guilty unpunished, ^(E)inflicting the ^[c]punishment of fathers on the children and on the grandchildren to the third and fourth generations.”

³ Then Moses said to Aaron, “It is what the Lord spoke, saying,

So Aaron, therefore, kept silent.

¹⁰ But he said to her, “You are speaking as one of the foolish women speaks. ^(A)Shall we actually accept good from God but not accept adversity?” ^(B)Despite all this, Job did not sin with his lips.

^8 (A)Then Hezekiah said to Isaiah, “The word of the Lord which you have spoken is good.” For he ^[a]thought, “For there will be peace and truth ^(B)in my days.”
