⁴ He took the gold from them, fashioned it with an engraving tool, and made it into an image of a calf.

Then they said, “Israel, these are your gods,^[a] who brought you up from the land of Egypt!” ^(A)

⁸ They have quickly turned from the way I commanded them; they have made for themselves an image of a calf. They have bowed down to it, sacrificed to it, and said, ‘Israel, these are your gods, who brought you up from the land of Egypt.’”^(A)

¹⁷ “Do not make cast images^(A) of gods for yourselves.

⁴ Do not turn to worthless idols^(A) or make cast images^(B) of gods for yourselves;^(C) I am the Lord your God.

⁵² you must drive out all the inhabitants of the land before you, destroy all their stone images^(A) and cast images,^(B) and demolish all their high places.
