Exodus 32:29-31

²⁹ For Moses had said, “Every man consecrate yourself to the LORD this day— even against your son, and against your brother — so that a blessing may be given to you this day.”

³⁰ And when the morning came, Moses said to the people, “You have committed a grievous crime. But now I will go up to the LORD, to see if I may pacify Him for your sin.”

³¹ Therefore, Moses went back to the LORD, and said, “Oh, this people has sinned a great sin, and has made gods of gold for themselves.
