Exodus 32:1-2

32 But when the people saw that Moses delayed in coming down from the mountain, the people gathered themselves together against Aaron, and said to him, “Up! Make us gods to go before us! For we do not know what has become of this Moses (the man who brought us out of the land of Egypt).

² And Aaron said to them, “Tear off the golden earrings which are in the ears of your wives, of your sons, and of your daughters, and bring them to me.”
