⁷ ‘When a man gives his neighbour valuables^[a] or goods to keep, but they are stolen from that person’s house, the thief, if caught, must repay double.

⁹ In any case of wrongdoing involving an ox, a donkey, a sheep, a garment, or anything else lost, and someone claims, “That’s mine,”^[a] the case between the two parties is to come before the judges.^[b] The one the judges condemn^[c] must repay double to his neighbour.

¹⁸ I will first repay them double for their iniquity^(A) and sin because they have polluted my land. They have filled my inheritance with the carcasses of their abhorrent and detestable idols.’
