20 Then God spoke all these words,^(A)

² “I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery;^(B)

¹² “Honor your father and your mother, so that your days may be long in the land that the Lord your God is giving you.^(A)

² “Honor your father and mother”—this is the first commandment with a promise^(A)— ³ “so that it may be well with you and you may live long on the earth.”
