⁷ “^(A)You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain, for the Lord will not ^[a]leave him unpunished who takes His name in vain.

⁹ But I acted ^(A)for the sake of My name, that it would ^(B)not be defiled in the sight of the nations among whom they lived, in whose sight I made Myself known to them by bringing them out of the land of Egypt.

¹⁴ But I acted for the sake of My name, so that it would not be defiled before the eyes of the nations, before whose eyes I had brought them out.

³⁹ “As for you, house of Israel,” this is what the Lord God says: “^(A)Go, serve, everyone of you his idols; ^[a]but later you will certainly listen to Me, and My holy name you will no longer ^(B)defile with your gifts and your idols.
