20 Leaving Succoth, they camped in Etham at the edge of the wilderness. 21 The Lord guided them by a pillar of cloud during the daytime and by a pillar of fire at night. So they could travel either by day or night. 22 The cloud and fire were never out of sight.

20 After leaving Sukkoth(A) they camped at Etham on the edge of the desert.(B) 21 By day the Lord went ahead(C) of them in a pillar of cloud(D) to guide them on their way and by night in a pillar of fire to give them light, so that they could travel by day or night. 22 Neither the pillar of cloud by day nor the pillar of fire by night left(E) its place in front of the people.
