Passover
12 Yahweh said to Moses and Aaron in Egypt, 2 “This month will be the very first month of the year for you. 3 Tell the whole community of Israel: On the tenth day of this month each man must take a lamb or a young goat for his family—one animal per household. 4 A household may be too small to eat a whole animal. That household and the one next door can share one animal. Choose your animal based on the number of people and what each person can eat. 5 Your animal must be a one-year-old male that has no defects. You may choose a lamb or a young goat. 6 Take care of it until the fourteenth day of this month.
“Then at dusk, all the assembled people from the community of Israel must slaughter their animals. 7 They must take some of the blood and put it on the sides and tops of the doorframes of the houses where they will eat the animals. 8 The meat must be eaten that same night. It must be roasted over a fire and eaten with bitter herbs and unleavened bread. 9 Don’t eat any of it raw or boiled but roast the whole animal over a fire. 10 Don’t leave any of it until morning. Anything left over in the morning must be burned up. 11 This is how you should be dressed when you eat it: with your belt on, your sandals on your feet, and your shepherd’s staff in your hand. You must eat it in a hurry. It is Yahweh’s Passover.
12 “On that same night I will go throughout Egypt and kill every firstborn male, both human and animal. I will severely punish all the gods of Egypt, because I am Yahweh. 13 But the blood on your houses will be a sign for your protection. When I see the blood, I will pass over you. Nothing will touch or destroy you when I strike Egypt.
14 “This day will be one for you to remember. This is a permanent law for generations to come: You will celebrate this day as a pilgrimage festival in Yahweh’s honor. 15 For seven days you must eat unleavened bread. On the very first day you must remove any yeast that you have in your houses. Whoever eats anything with yeast in it from the first day through the seventh day must be excluded from Israel. 16 You must have a holy assembly on the first day and another one on the seventh. You must not work on these days except to prepare your own meals. That’s all you may do.
17 You must celebrate the Festival of Unleavened Bread because it was on this very day that I brought you out of Egypt in organized family groups. This is a permanent law for future generations: You must celebrate this day. 18 From the evening of the fourteenth day of the first month until the evening of the twenty-first day you must eat unleavened bread. 19 There should be no yeast in your houses for seven days. Whoever eats anything with yeast in it must be excluded from the community of Israel, whether he is an Israelite or not. 20 Eat nothing made with yeast. Wherever you live, you must eat only unleavened bread.”
21 Then Moses called for all the leaders of Israel. He said to them, “Pick out a lamb or a young goat for your families, and kill the Passover animal. 22 Take the branch of a hyssop plant, dip it in the blood which is in a bowl, and put some of the blood on the top and sides of the doorframes of your houses. No one may leave the house until morning. 23 Yahweh will go throughout Egypt to kill the Egyptians. When he sees the blood on the top and sides of the doorframe, Yahweh will pass over that doorway, and he will not let the destroyer come into your home to kill you.
24 “You must follow these instructions. They are a permanent law for you and your children. 25 When you enter the land that Yahweh will give you as he promised, observe this ceremony. 26 When your children ask you what this ceremony means to you, 27 you must answer, ‘It’s the Passover sacrifice in Yahweh’s honor. Yahweh passed over the houses of the Israelites in Egypt and spared our homes when he killed the Egyptians.’”
Then the people knelt, bowing with their faces touching the ground. 28 The Israelites did as Yahweh had commanded Moses and Aaron.
29 At midnight Yahweh killed every firstborn male in Egypt from the firstborn son of Pharaoh who ruled the land to the firstborn son of the prisoner in jail, and also every firstborn animal. 30 Pharaoh, all his officials, and all the other Egyptians got up during the night. There was loud crying throughout Egypt because in every house someone had died.
Pharaoh Allows the Israelites to Leave Egypt
31 Pharaoh called for Moses and Aaron during the night. He said, “You and the Israelites must leave my people at once. Go, worship Yahweh as you asked. 32 Take your flocks and herds, too, as you asked. Just go! And bless me, too!”
33 The Egyptians begged the people to leave the country quickly. They said, “Soon we’ll all be dead!” 34 So the people picked up their bread dough before it had risen and carried it on their shoulders in bowls, wrapped up in their clothes.
35 The Israelites did what Moses had told them and asked the Egyptians for gold and silver jewelry and for clothes. 36 Yahweh made the Egyptians generous to the people, and they gave them what they asked for. So the Israelites stripped Egypt of its wealth.
The Israelites Leave Egypt
37 The Israelites left Rameses to go to Succoth. There were about six hundred thousand men on foot, plus all the women and children. 38 Many other people also went with them, along with large numbers of sheep, goats, and cattle.
39 With the dough they had brought from Egypt, they baked round, flat bread. The dough hadn’t risen because they’d been thrown out of Egypt and had no time to prepare food for the trip.
40 The Israelites had been living in Egypt for 430 years. 41 After exactly 430 years all Yahweh’s people left Egypt in organized family groups. 42 That night Yahweh kept watch to take them out of Egypt. (All Israelites in future generations must keep watch on this night, since it is dedicated to Yahweh.)
Rules for the Passover
43 Yahweh said to Moses and Aaron, “These are the rules for the Passover:
“No foreigner may eat the Passover meal.
44 “Any male slave you have bought may eat it after you have circumcised him.
45 “No foreigner visiting you may eat it.
“No hired worker may eat it.
46 “The meal must be eaten inside one house. Never take any of the meat outside the house.
“Never break any of the bones.
47 “The whole community of Israel must celebrate the Passover.
48 “Foreigners may want to celebrate Yahweh’s Passover. First, every male in the household must be circumcised. Then they may celebrate the Passover like native-born Israelites. But no uncircumcised males may ever eat the Passover meal. 49 The same instructions apply to native-born Israelites as well as foreigners.”
50 All the Israelites did as Yahweh had commanded Moses and Aaron. 51 That very day Yahweh brought all the Israelites out of Egypt in organized family groups.

11 Do ta hani në këtë mënyrë: ijengjeshur, sandalembathur dhe me bastunin tuaj në dorë; do të hani me nxitim: se është Pashka e Zotit.
12 Atë natë unë do të kaloj nëpër vendin e Egjiptit dhe do të godas çdo të parëlindur në vendin e Egjiptit, qoftë njeri apo kafshë, dhe do t’i jap hakun gjithë perëndive të Egjiptit. Unë jam Zoti.
13 Dhe gjaku do të jetë për ju një shenjë mbi shtëpitë ku ndodheni; kur unë të shoh gjakun do të kaloj tutje dhe nuk do të ketë plagë mbi ju për t’ju zhdukur, kur të godas vendin e Egjiptit.
14 Ajo ditë do të jetë për ju një ditë për t’u mbajtur mend dhe ta kremtoni si festë kushtuar Zotit; do ta kremtoni nëpër kohëra si ligj të përjetshëm.
15 Për shtatë ditë do të hani bukë të ndorme. Ditën e parë do të kujdeseni të hiqni çdo maja nga shtëpitë tuaja, sepse kushdo që do të hajë bukë të mbrujtur, nga dita e parë deri në të shtatën, do të këputet nga Izraeli.
16 Ditën e parë do të keni një mbledhje të shenjtë, dhe një mbledhje të shenjtë edhe ditën e shtatë. Të mos bëhet asnjë punë ato ditë; të përgatitet vetëm ajo që do të hajë secili dhe asgjë tjetër.
17 Do të kremtoni, pra, festën e të ndormëve, sepse pikërisht në këtë ditë bëra të dalin radhët tuaja nga vendi i Egjiptit; do ta kremtoni, pra, këtë ditë nëpër kohëra si ligj të përjetshëm.
18 Gjatë muajit të parë, nga dita e katërmbëdhjetë e muajit, në mbrëmje, deri ditën e njëzetenjëtë, në mbrëmje, do të hani bukë të ndorme.
19 Për shtatë ditë të mos gjendet maja në shtëpitë tuaja, sepse kushdo që do të hajë diçka të mbrujtur, do të këputet nga asambleja e Izraelit, qoftë ai i huaj apo i lindur në vend.
20 Nuk do të hani asgjë të mbrujtur; në të gjitha banesat tuaja do të hani bukë të ndorme"".
21 Moisiu, pra, thirri gjithë pleqtë e Izraelit dhe u tha atyre: "Shkoni dhe merrni qengja për ju dhe për familjet tuaja, dhe flijoni Pashkët.
22 Pastaj do të merrni një tufëz hisopi, do ta ngjyeni në gjakun që është në legen, dhe me gjakun që është në legen do të spërkatni arkitraun dhe të dy shtalkat e dyerve; dhe asnjë prej jush nuk do të dalë nga dera e shtëpisë së tij deri në mëngjes.
23 Sepse Zoti do të kalojë për të goditur Egjiptasit; po, kur do të shohë gjakun mbi arkitraun dhe mbi dy shtalkat, Zoti do të kalojë më tej derës dhe nuk do ta lejojë shkatërruesin të hyjë në shtëpitë tuaja për t’ju goditur.
24 Zbatojeni, pra, këtë si një porosi të përjetshme për ju dhe për bijtë tuaj.
25 Kur të hyni në vendin që do t’ju japë Zoti, siç e ka thënë, zbatoni këtë rit.
26 Kur bijtë tuaj do t’ju pyesin: "Ç’kuptim ka ky rit për ju?,"
27 ju do t’u përgjigjeni: "Kjo është flija e Pashkës së Zotit, që kaloi tej shtëpive të bijve të Izraelit në Egjipt, kur goditi Egjiptasit dhe i fali shtëpitë tona"". Dhe populli u përkul dhe adhuroi.
28 Atëherë bijtë e Izraelit shkuan dhe vepruan ashtu; ata bënë ashtu si i kishte urdhëruar Zoti Moisiun dhe Aaronin.
29 Prandaj ndodhi që në mesnatë Zoti goditi tërë të parëlindurit në vendin e Egjiptit, që nga i parëlinduri i Faraonit që rrinte mbi fronin e tij, deri te i parëlinduri i të burgosurit që ishte në burg, si dhe çdo pjellë e parë e bagëtive.
30 Kështu Faraoni u ngrit natën, ai me gjithë shërbëtorët e tij dhe gjithë Egjiptasit; dhe u dëgjua një klithmë e madhe në Egjipt, sepse nuk kishte shtëpi ku të mos kishte një të vdekur.
31 Atëherë ai thirri Moisiun dhe Aaronin natën dhe u tha: "Çohuni dhe largohuni nga mesi i popullit tim, ju dhe bijtë e Izraelit; dhe shkoni t’i shërbeni Zotit, siç e keni thënë.
32 Merrni me vete kopetë e bagëtive të imta dhe të trasha, siç keni thënë, dhe shkoni; dhe më bekoni edhe mua!".
33 Dhe Egjiptasit e nxisnin popullin për të shpejtuar nisjen nga vendi, sepse thonin: "Do të vdesim të gjithë".
34 Populli mori me vete brumin e bukës para se ai të vinte; i mbështolli magjet e tij me rroba trupi dhe i vuri mbi kurriz.
35 Dhe bijtë e Izraelit bënë ashtu siç i kishte thënë Moisiu dhe u kërkuan Egjiptasve sende argjendi, sende ari dhe rroba;
36 dhe Zoti bëri që Egjiptasit ta shikonin me sy të mirë popullin dhe t’i jepnin atë që kërkonte. Kështu i zhveshën Egjiptasit.
37 Bijtë e Izraelit u nisën nga Ramsesi për në Sukoth, ishin rreth gjashtëqind mijë njerëz më këmbë, pa llogaritur fëmijët.
38 Dhe me ta iku gjithashtu një përzierje e madhe njerëzish, bashkë me kopetë e tyre të bagëtive të imta dhe të trasha, një numër i madh kafshësh.
39 Dhe ata e poqën brumin që kishin sjellë nga Egjipti, duke bërë kuleçë të ndormë; në fakt brumi nuk kishte maja, sepse ata u dëbuan nga Egjipti dhe nuk mundën të mënojnë, as të përgatisin rezerva për udhëtimin.
40 Koha që bijtë e Izraelit kaluan në Egjipt qe katërqind e tridhjetë vjet.
41 Në fund të katërqind e tridhjetë vjetëve, pikërisht atë ditë, ndodhi që të gjitha radhët e Zotit dolën nga vendi i Egjiptit.
42 Kjo është një natë për t’u kremtuar për nder të Zotit, sepse ai i nxori nga vendi i Egjiptit; kjo natë do të jetë një kremtim solemn ndaj Zotit, për të gjithë bijtë e Izraelit brez pas brezi.
43 Pastaj Zoti i tha Moisiut dhe Aaronit: "Ky është rregulli i Pashkëve: asnjë i huaj nuk do të hajë;
44 por çdo skllav, i blerë me para, mbasi të jetë rrethprerë, mund të hajë.
45 Të ardhurit dhe mercenarët nuk do të hanë.
46 Qengji do të hahet vetëm në një shtëpi; asnjë pjesë të mishit të tij nuk do ta nxirrni jashtë shtëpisë dhe nuk do të thyeni asnjë kockë të tij.
47 Tërë asambleja e Izraelit do ta kremtojë atë.
48 Dhe kur një i huaj do të banojë me ty do të dojë të kremtojë Pashkët për nder të Zotit, tërë meshkujt e familjes së tij duhet të rrethpriten më parë dhe pastaj ai le të afrohet për të kremtuar këtë ditë, ai do të konsiderohet si i lindur në vend; por asnjë i parrethprerë s’ka për të ngrënë.
49 Do të ketë një ligj të vetëm për atë që ka lindur në vend dhe për të huajin që banon me ju".
50 Tërë bijtë e Izraelit vepruan në këtë mënyrë; ata bënë pikërisht atë që Zoti i kishte urdhëruar Moisiut dhe Aaronit.

12 Now the Lord spoke to Moses and Aaron in the land of Egypt, saying, 2 (B)“This month shall be your beginning of months; it shall be the first month of the year to you. 3 Speak to all the congregation of Israel, saying: ‘On the (C)tenth of this month every man shall take for himself a lamb, according to the house of his father, a lamb for a household. 4 And if the household is too small for the lamb, let him and his neighbor next to his house take it according to the number of the persons; according to each man’s need you shall make your count for the lamb. 5 Your lamb shall be (D)without[a] blemish, a male [b]of the first year. You may take it from the sheep or from the goats. 6 Now you shall keep it until the (E)fourteenth day of the same month. Then the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel shall kill it at twilight. 7 And they shall take some of the blood and put it on the two doorposts and on the lintel of the houses where they eat it. 8 Then they shall eat the flesh on that (F)night; (G)roasted in fire, with (H)unleavened bread and with bitter herbs they shall eat it. 9 Do not eat it raw, nor boiled at all with water, but (I)roasted in fire—its head with its legs and its entrails. 10 (J)You shall let none of it remain until morning, and what remains of it until morning you shall burn with fire. 11 And thus you shall eat it: [c]with a belt on your waist, your sandals on your feet, and your staff in your hand. So you shall eat it in haste. (K)It is the Lord’s Passover.
12 ‘For I (L)will pass through the land of Egypt on that night, and will strike all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and (M)against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgment: (N)I am the Lord. 13 Now the blood shall be a sign for you on the houses where you are. And when I see the blood, I will pass over you; and the plague shall not be on you to destroy you when I strike the land of Egypt.
14 ‘So this day shall be to you (O)a memorial; and you shall keep it as a (P)feast to the Lord throughout your generations. You shall keep it as a feast (Q)by an everlasting ordinance. 15 (R)Seven days you shall eat unleavened bread. On the first day you shall remove leaven from your houses. For whoever eats leavened bread from the first day until the seventh day, (S)that [d]person shall be [e]cut off from Israel. 16 On the first day there shall be (T)a holy convocation, and on the seventh day there shall be a holy convocation for you. No manner of work shall be done on them; but that which everyone must eat—that only may be prepared by you. 17 So you shall observe the Feast of Unleavened Bread, for (U)on this same day I will have brought your [f]armies (V)out of the land of Egypt. Therefore you shall observe this day throughout your generations as an everlasting ordinance. 18 (W)In the first month, on the fourteenth day of the month at evening, you shall eat unleavened bread, until the twenty-first day of the month at evening. 19 For (X)seven days no leaven shall be found in your houses, since whoever eats what is leavened, that same person shall be cut off from the congregation of Israel, whether he is a stranger or a native of the land. 20 You shall eat nothing leavened; in all your dwellings you shall eat unleavened bread.’ ”
21 Then (Y)Moses called for all the (Z)elders of Israel and said to them, (AA)“Pick out and take lambs for yourselves according to your families, and kill the Passover lamb. 22 (AB)And you shall take a bunch of hyssop, dip it in the blood that is in the basin, and (AC)strike the lintel and the two doorposts with the blood that is in the basin. And none of you shall go out of the door of his house until morning. 23 (AD)For the Lord will pass through to strike the Egyptians; and when He sees the (AE)blood on the [g]lintel and on the two doorposts, the Lord will pass over the door and (AF)not allow (AG)the destroyer to come into your houses to strike you. 24 And you shall (AH)observe this thing as an ordinance for you and your sons forever. 25 It will come to pass when you come to the land which the Lord will give you, (AI)just as He promised, that you shall keep this service. 26 (AJ)And it shall be, when your children say to you, ‘What do you mean by this service?’ 27 that you shall say, (AK)‘It is the Passover sacrifice of the Lord, who passed over the houses of the children of Israel in Egypt when He struck the Egyptians and delivered our households.’ ” So the people (AL)bowed their heads and worshiped. 28 Then the children of Israel went away and (AM)did so; just as the Lord had commanded Moses and Aaron, so they did.
The Tenth Plague: Death of the Firstborn(AN)
29 (AO)And it came to pass at midnight that (AP)the Lord struck all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, from the firstborn of Pharaoh who sat on his throne to the firstborn of the captive who was [h]in the dungeon, and all the firstborn of (AQ)livestock. 30 So Pharaoh rose in the night, he, all his servants, and all the Egyptians; and there was a great cry in Egypt, for there was not a house where there was not one dead.
The Exodus
31 Then he (AR)called for Moses and Aaron by night, and said, “Rise, go out from among my people, (AS)both you and the children of Israel. And go, serve the Lord as you have (AT)said. 32 (AU)Also take your flocks and your herds, as you have said, and be gone; and bless me also.”
33 (AV)And the Egyptians (AW)urged the people, that they might send them out of the land in haste. For they said, “We shall all be dead.” 34 So the people took their dough before it was leavened, having their kneading bowls bound up in their clothes on their shoulders. 35 Now the children of Israel had done according to the word of Moses, and they had asked from the Egyptians (AX)articles of silver, articles of gold, and clothing. 36 (AY)And the Lord had given the people favor in the sight of the Egyptians, so that they granted them what they requested. Thus (AZ)they plundered the Egyptians.
37 Then (BA)the children of Israel journeyed from (BB)Rameses to Succoth, about (BC)six hundred thousand men on foot, besides children. 38 A (BD)mixed multitude went up with them also, and flocks and herds—a great deal of (BE)livestock. 39 And they baked unleavened cakes of the dough which they had brought out of Egypt; for it was not leavened, because (BF)they were driven out of Egypt and could not wait, nor had they prepared provisions for themselves.
40 Now the [i]sojourn of the children of Israel who lived in [j]Egypt was (BG)four hundred and thirty years. 41 And it came to pass at the end of the four hundred and thirty years—on that very same day—it came to pass that (BH)all the armies of the Lord went out from the land of Egypt. 42 It is (BI)a [k]night of solemn observance to the Lord for bringing them out of the land of Egypt. This is that night of the Lord, a solemn observance for all the children of Israel throughout their generations.
Passover Regulations(BJ)
43 And the Lord said to Moses and Aaron, “This is (BK)the ordinance of the Passover: No foreigner shall eat it. 44 But every man’s servant who is bought for money, when you have (BL)circumcised him, then he may eat it. 45 (BM)A sojourner and a hired servant shall not eat it. 46 In one house it shall be eaten; you shall not carry any of the flesh outside the house, (BN)nor shall you break one of its bones. 47 (BO)All the congregation of Israel shall keep it. 48 And (BP)when a stranger [l]dwells with you and wants to keep the Passover to the Lord, let all his males be circumcised, and then let him come near and keep it; and he shall be as a native of the land. For no uncircumcised person shall eat it. 49 (BQ)One law shall be for the native-born and for the stranger who dwells among you.”
50 Thus all the children of Israel did; as the Lord commanded Moses and Aaron, so they did. 51 (BR)And it came to pass, on that very same day, that the Lord brought the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt (BS)according to their armies.
