Exodus 10:8-11

New International Version

⁸Then Moses and Aaron were brought back to Pharaoh. “Go, worship^(A) the Lord your God,” he said. “But tell me who will be going.”

⁹Moses answered, “We will go with our young and our old, with our sons and our daughters, and with our flocks and herds, because we are to celebrate a festival^(B) to the Lord.”

¹⁰Pharaoh said, “The Lord be with you—if I let you go, along with your women and children! Clearly you are bent on evil.^[a] ¹¹No! Have only the men go and worship the Lord, since that’s what you have been asking for.” Then Moses and Aaron were driven out of Pharaoh’s presence.

¹²“Observe the Sabbath day by keeping it holy,^(A) as the Lord your God has commanded you. ¹³Six days you shall labor and do all your work, ¹⁴but the seventh day^(B) is a sabbath to the Lord your God. On it you shall not do any work, neither you, nor your son or daughter, nor your male or female servant,^(C) nor your ox, your donkey or any of your animals, nor any foreigner residing in your towns, so that your male and female servants may rest, as you do.^(D) ¹⁵Remember that you were slaves^(E) in Egypt and that the Lord your God brought you out of there with a mighty hand^(F) and an outstretched arm.^(G) Therefore the Lord your God has commanded you to observe the Sabbath day.
