The Ninth Plague: Darkness

²¹ Then the Lord said to Moses, ^(A)“Stretch out your hand toward heaven, that there may be darkness over the land of Egypt, ^[a]darkness which may even be felt.”

²² Then they will look to the earth, and see trouble and darkness, gloom of anguish; and they will be driven into darkness.

Fourth Trumpet: The Heavens Struck

^12 (A)Then the fourth angel sounded: And a third of the sun was struck, a third of the moon, and a third of the stars, so that a third of them were darkened. A third of the day ^[a]did not shine, and likewise the night.

² And he opened the bottomless pit, and smoke arose out of the pit like the smoke of a great furnace. So the ^(A)sun and the air were darkened because of the smoke of the pit.
