¹⁵and they covered the [^Lsurface of the] whole land so that it was ·black [darkened]. They ate everything that was left after the hail—·every plant [^Lall the vegetation] in the field and all the fruit on the trees. Nothing green was left on any tree or plant anywhere in Egypt.

¹⁶·The king [^LPharaoh] quickly called for Moses and Aaron. He said, “I have sinned against the Lord your God and against you. ¹⁷Now forgive my sin this time. ·Pray to [Entreat; Intercede with] the Lord your God, and ask him to ·stop [turn aside] this ·punishment that kills [deadly thing from me].”

¹⁵They covered all the ground until it was black. They devoured^(A) all that was left after the hail—everything growing in the fields and the fruit on the trees. Nothing green remained on tree or plant in all the land of Egypt.

¹⁶Pharaoh quickly summoned^(B) Moses and Aaron and said, “I have sinned^(C) against the Lord your God and against you. ¹⁷Now forgive^(D) my sin once more and pray^(E) to the Lord your God to take this deadly plague away from me.”

¹⁵They covered the face of the whole land, so that the land was darkened, and ^(A)they ate all the plants in the land and all the fruit of the trees that the hail had left. Not a green thing remained, neither tree nor plant of the field, through all the land of Egypt. ¹⁶Then Pharaoh hastily called Moses and Aaron and said, ^(B)“I have sinned against the Lord your God, and against you. ¹⁷Now therefore, forgive my sin, please, only this once, and ^(C)plead with the Lord your God only to remove this death from me.”
