- 25.17 Autre traduction : couvercle. Ce terme dérive d’un verbe qui signifie : couvrir, d’où la traduction couvercle ; mais aussi expier, d’où la traduction propitiatoire. C’est le sang répandu sur ce couvercle du coffre de l’alliance qui rendait Dieu « propice » (favorable) au peuple.
