⁴⁰ Now the ^[a]sojourn of the children of Israel who lived in ^[b]Egypt was ^(A)four hundred and thirty years.

¹³ Then He said to Abram: “Know certainly ^(A)that your descendants will be strangers in a land that is not theirs, and will serve them, and ^(B)they will afflict them four hundred years.

⁶ But God spoke in this way: ^(A)that his descendants would dwell in a foreign land, and that they would bring them into ^(B)bondage and oppress them four hundred years.

¹⁷ The God of this people ^[a]Israel ^(A)chose our fathers, and exalted the people ^(B)when they dwelt as strangers in the land of Egypt, and with ^[b]an uplifted arm He ^(C)brought them out of it.

⁹ By faith he dwelt in the land of promise as in a foreign country, ^(A)dwelling in tents with Isaac and Jacob, ^(B)the heirs with him of the same promise;

¹⁶ Now to Abraham and his Seed were the promises made. He does not say, “And to seeds,” as of many, but as of ^(A)one, ^(B)“And to your Seed,” who is ^(C)Christ. ¹⁷ And this I say, that the law, ^(D)which was four hundred and thirty years later, cannot annul the covenant that was confirmed before by God ^[a]in Christ, ^(E)that it should make the promise of no effect.
