²⁹ To be sure, no one has ever hated his own body, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as Christ does the church, ³⁰ because we are members of his body, of his flesh and of his bones.^{[a] 31} “For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two will be one flesh.”^[b]
