3 Si tu as fait un vœu à Dieu, accomplis-le sans tarder[a], car les insensés déplaisent à Dieu. Ce que tu as promis, tiens-le. 4 Il vaut mieux ne pas faire de vœu qu’en faire et ne pas s’en acquitter.
5 Ne laisse pas tes paroles te charger d’une faute et ne va pas dire au représentant de Dieu[b] : « Mon vœu était une erreur. » Pourquoi irriter Dieu par tes paroles et faire échouer tes entreprises ?

3 For a dream cometh through the multitude of business; and a fool's voice is known by multitude of words.
4 When thou vowest a vow unto God, defer not to pay it; for he hath no pleasure in fools: pay that which thou hast vowed.
5 Better is it that thou shouldest not vow, than that thou shouldest vow and not pay.
