¹⁶ You must destroy all the peoples the Lord your God gives over to you.^(A) Do not look on them with pity^(B) and do not serve their gods,^(C) for that will be a snare^(D) to you.

⁸ do not yield^(A) to them or listen to them. Show them no pity.^(B) Do not spare them or shield them.

¹³ Show no pity.^(A) You must purge from Israel the guilt of shedding innocent blood,^(B) so that it may go well with you.
