²⁹ But from there, you will search for the Lord your God, and you will find him when you seek him with all your heart and all your soul.^(A)

What God Requires

¹² ‘And now, Israel, what does the Lord your God ask of you except to fear^(A) the Lord your God by walking in all his ways, to love him, and to worship the Lord your God with all your heart and all your soul?^(B)

¹³ ‘If you carefully obey my commands I am giving you today, to love the Lord your God and worship him with all your heart and all your soul,

³ do not listen to that prophet’s words or to that dreamer. For the Lord your God is testing you to know whether you love the Lord your God with all your heart and all your soul.^(A)

² and you and your children return to the Lord your God and obey him with all your heart and all your soul^(A) by doing^[a] everything I am commanding you today,
