Deuteronomy 28:46-48

⁴⁶And they shall be upon thee for a sign and for a wonder, and upon thy seed for ever.

⁴⁷Because thou servedst not the Lord thy God with joyfulness, and with gladness of heart, for the abundance of all things;

⁴⁸Therefore shalt thou serve thine enemies which the Lord shall send against thee, in hunger, and in thirst, and in nakedness, and in want of all things: and he shall put a yoke of iron upon thy neck, until he have destroyed thee.

⁴⁶And they will become ^(A)a sign and a wonder ^[a]against you and your ^[b]descendants forever.

⁴⁷“^(B)Since you did not serve the Lord your God with joy and a cheerful heart, in gratitude for the abundance of all things, ⁴⁸you will serve your enemies whom the Lord will send against you, ^(C)in hunger, thirst, nakedness, and devoid of all things; and He ^(D)will put an iron yoke on your neck until He has destroyed you.

⁴⁶They will be a sign and a wonder to you and your descendants forever.^(A) ⁴⁷Because you did not serve^(B) the Lord your God joyfully and gladly^(C) in the time of prosperity, ⁴⁸therefore in hunger and thirst,^(D) in nakedness and dire poverty, you will serve the enemies the Lord sends against you. He will put an iron yoke^(E) on your neck^(F) until he has destroyed you.
