8 So we passed by our kin, the descendants of Esau who live in Seir, leaving behind the route of the Arabah, and leaving behind Elath and Ezion-geber.
When we had headed out along the route of the wilderness of Moab, 9 the Lord said to me: ‘Do not harass Moab or engage them in battle, for I will not give you any of its land as a possession, since I have given Ar as a possession to the descendants of Lot.’ 10 (The Emim—a large and numerous people, as tall as the Anakim—had formerly inhabited it.

New International Version
8 So we went on past our relatives the descendants of Esau, who live in Seir. We turned from(A) the Arabah(B) road, which comes up from Elath and Ezion Geber,(C) and traveled along the desert road of Moab.(D)
9 Then the Lord said to me, “Do not harass the Moabites or provoke them to war, for I will not give you any part of their land. I have given Ar(E) to the descendants of Lot(F) as a possession.”
10 (The Emites(G) used to live there—a people strong and numerous, and as tall as the Anakites.(H)
