Deuteronomy 15:11-13

¹¹ There will always be poor people in the land. Therefore, I command you, “Be generous to your poor brother and the needy in your land.”

¹² Freeing Slaves. If a fellow Hebrew man or woman sells himself to you and serves for six years, then in the seventh year you are to set him free.^{[a] 13} When you release him, you are not to send him away empty-handed.
