Deuteronomy 9:8-10
New International Version
8 At Horeb you aroused the Lord’s wrath(A) so that he was angry enough to destroy you.(B) 9 When I went up on the mountain to receive the tablets of stone, the tablets of the covenant(C) that the Lord had made with you, I stayed on the mountain forty days(D) and forty nights; I ate no bread and drank no water.(E) 10 The Lord gave me two stone tablets inscribed by the finger of God.(F) On them were all the commandments the Lord proclaimed to you on the mountain out of the fire, on the day of the assembly.(G)

8 Also (A)in Horeb you provoked the Lord to wrath, so that the Lord was angry enough with you to have destroyed you. 9 (B)When I went up into the mountain to receive the tablets of stone, the tablets of the covenant which the Lord made with you, then I stayed on the mountain forty days and (C)forty nights. I neither ate bread nor drank water. 10 (D)Then the Lord delivered to me two tablets of stone written with the finger of God, and on them were all the words which the Lord had spoken to you on the mountain from the midst of the fire (E)in[a] the day of the assembly.
