²⁰ And the Lord was very angry with Aaron and would have destroyed him; so I prayed for Aaron also at the same time.

²⁶ For such a High Priest was fitting for us, ^(A)who is holy, ^[a]harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, ^(B)and has become higher than the heavens; ²⁷ who does not need daily, as those high priests, to offer up sacrifices, first for His ^(C)own sins and then for the people’s, for this He did once for all when He offered up Himself. ²⁸ For the law appoints as high priests men who have weakness, but the word of the oath, which came after the law, appoints the Son who has been perfected forever.

³⁵ So the Lord plagued the people because of ^(A)what they did with the calf which Aaron made.

²¹ And Moses said to Aaron, ^(A)“What did this people do to you that you have brought so great a sin upon them?”

² And Aaron said to them, “Break off the ^(A)golden earrings which are in the ears of your wives, your sons, and your daughters, and bring them to me.” ³ So all the people broke off the golden earrings which were in their ears, and brought them to Aaron. ^4 (B)And he received the gold from their hand, and he fashioned it with an engraving tool, and made a molded calf.

Then they said, “This is your god, O Israel, that ^(C)brought you out of the land of Egypt!”

⁵ So when Aaron saw it, he built an altar before it. And Aaron made a ^(D)proclamation and said, “Tomorrow is a feast to the Lord.”
